I'm so very happy right now.
This was skillfully executed. At no point did I feel as if the narrative was slow or needlessly prolonged. Most everything that was written felt like it belonged; no space was wasted on unnecessary plotlines or explanations.
Characters were distinct from each other in both dialogue and behavior, and the protagonists endeared themselves to me. This particular ending for this particular concept may have been done numerous times already, but I was made to care for the protagonists enough that the ending impacted me quite strongly.
The characters themselves expressed their own emotions clearly, without relying on vapid "she was sad" sort of descriptions.
I could say more, but I'd rather not make this too long.
