Twilight Sparkle's coronation as the sole ruler of Equestria is right around the corner. To not disappoint her, Sunset Shimmer decides to come back to Equestria for the first time since her theft of the Princess's crown to attend.
Said Princess's student, Starlight, is there to greet her, but the two of them are surprised to find that Sunset is a princess herself - or at least an alicorn, and her arrival may have unintended consequences for a trio of recently imprisoned villains.

I can’t put my finger on it, but this whole chapter feels super janky
I like the premise and your version of glim glam.
But it’ doesn’t fell like the story or dialogue flows. The only time it does is when starlight confronts sunset about her nervous habit and getting off the train.
That said, can’t wait to read the next chapter and see what conflict two of the most combat magic users in mlp run into
Love everything so far! Few authors have done Sunset ascension well and I am very excited to see more.
I suppose this could work had Sunset not already visited and met Starlight a few times before. Nevertheless, I like the story

Forgotten Friendship is actually one of the things that got me to write this fic. The premise wouldn't work if it had happened, which is why this is tagged as an au, but I really liked seeing Sunset back in Equestria and her pony form. I also liked seeing her and Starlight pal around in Mirror Magic, which was another inspiration for this fic. I thought if I had to shuffle around some things in order for the fic to work, it would be a good enough compromise.

not gonna lie, if Cozy is just instantly redeemd I will be disappointed. She is a great manipulative villain.

Those two are probably the best ponies possible for Cozy Glow to come across. For one thing, Sunset now knows everything important. For another, they have both been villains before, so they know the point of view. Also, assuming it is partially the cutie mark that is the issue with Cozy, Glimmer is the perfect pony for dealing with a bad cutie mark.
It was absolutely wrong to turn those three into stone in the first place. Cruel and unusual. It was also wrong to send the minor Cozy Glow to Tartarus. There were better ways of dealing with this.
Huh, Cozy Glow still has that innocent thought that teammates won't betray each other(teammates with villains no less). Considering what she had done in the past, I thought she was way beyond most fillies innocent thought process.
Well, turns out her filly mindset is still there, albeit suppressed by the thoughts of power and payback.
Man, I hate the void.... I had the same/similar self-contradictory experience in a dream, when I should have been far too young to be worrying about such concepts as death.
