We haven't reached that far yet, but in the story Celestia managed to summon Diana many centuries ago, and has since used her as a weapon. Her hate is derived from being treated as an attack dog only brought out when there is a job do that Celestia doesn't want to be linked to.

There won't be any Lunar Republic, or killing of Celestia in this story, but I'll admit its been years since I played League. Looking at some videos right now, they've changed a bit of her lore enough for me to take a step back, and reconsider some of the story I had planned. But Diana still hates Celestia more as a person than what she is, believing the alicorn is a tyrant hiding behind a fake smile to achieve what she wants.
