Spike the dog is dying. Sunset takes a desperate gamble to save him.
Flaws in the story are the fault of the author, not the fault of the prereaders: Cloud Ring, Anna-Flora, ninjadeadbeard
This story might be an entry in the "A Thousand Words Contest," but who really knows at this point? An author's entries are limited to a total of five, one story for each of the contest categories, and I've now written more than five eligible stories during the contest period.

No problem! I try to read as many stories as I can with Puppy Spike since sadly there aren't that many
I started crying because my dog passed last week :(
Sadly, you can't save them all. ππ’
Wow. Just wow.
I won't lie the pacing feels a bit slow and plodding, but everything else is great!
You really captured that in and out feeling that older people go through, and I loved that.
The dialogue felt a bit like exposition at times, but once you reach this point you almost kind of have to do it that way with older folks that have lost it.
I fully appreciate the ending showing Sunset doesn't even care about her wings.
It was a great way to highlight what Spike meant to her without having to say it.
Its been 26 years.
Just so you know you linked Dog Years to my userpage.

Now fixed, thank you!
Forget killing Sunset. Sci Twi is going to murder the universe for this. And no amount of Friendship Magic is going to stop Midnight this time.
