You'd be surprised how much of an effect a lack of sexual release can have on the vividness of dreams. That combined with a bit of practice on dream recall (like writing down your dreams in a journal) can vastly improve your ability to recall dreams.
I've also been thinking a lot about zero gravity recently. How fire burns oddly because of the different behaviour of convection currents limiting air flow... How water and oils interact and mix (or fail to)... How certain body parts might behave... You get the hint.
I definitely got lucky having those factors combine in such an awesome way.

Well I've been working on dream recollection since my middle school science-fair project and definitely have a lot of unreleased sexual tension (distance relationships, huzzah) but I can honestly say I've never once had a sex dream in my life. My dreams fall under one of two categories very reliably; bizarre to an extreme (surfing on an ocean of strawberries, anyone?) or those that end in my death. Any ideas for sex-based-prose come to me instead at about 4am while totally awake and counting the cracks in my ceiling.
On a totally irrelevant note, fire in zero-gravity is ridiculously cool, as are many other chemical processes.
Either way, great story.

Well, I get dreams where I wake up with a shock after falling/being hit with something; I wouldn't say it's entirely abnorma. If by invoking your own death, you mean suicide, then I'm not sure. I'd say you have nothing to worry about if you don't have a mental disorder of any sort, but don't take my word for it. I'm a physics student, not a psychiatrist.

Heh, thank you! I’m no expert, but if you want some fics that have awesome stories and mood setting, I recommend Regrowth, Bittersweet, and I Wish I Might, all by RagingSemi. This guy is one of the best writers I have seen on the site, and these three stories are, in my opinion, the untouchable pinnacles of his work.
It’s pretty heartbreaking that he never got to do stories for Dash, ‘Shy, or Rarity, as he seems to having switched over to drawing now, but you should definitely read the three I linked.

'Turning, you catch sight first of Twilight's normal attire laid carelessly on the floor. Next, you see Twilight, her horn glowing as she uses her magic to cease her forward momentum, leaving the three of you floating naked in the middle of the room. She grins coyly at you, her eyes burning with lust. "My turn," she whispers seductively.
'"What?" Dash demands, shock warring with outrage.
'"I made 3 potions for a reason," Twilight replies.'

I just realized that Rainbow Dash is a human with wings who has committed transgressions! For this, she will earn a new kind of reward - agony. Mostly because I'm pissed that it's Season 8 of MLP, and Scootaloo still doesn't know how to fly even though way back in Season Three of the show Rainbow Dash made Scootaloo her honorary little sister. So, have some videos in tribute to Rainbow Dash.
But seriously. If I had the opportunity to, I would totally pull a Kain on Rainbow Dash for not having taught Scootaloo how to fly yet, even though Rainbow Dash made Scootaloo her honorary little sister 5 years ago. By 'pull a Kain' I mean destroy her wings, and throw her into the Lake of the Dead, just to have her come back as a blue spectral vampiric Hylden wraith thingy, and eventually come to the realization that only through sacrificing herself can the realm be saved.
