On a school trip to a quaint little town, Sweetie Belle becomes entangled in the past. She soon learns that some stories infect everything they touch, like a virulent plague, creating sad, twisted clones of themselves. And they never truly die.
Should I feel sorry for Daffodil for being killed? But she started it by abusing Midnight.
And what OF Midnight? She was tortured by Daffodil for being a unicorn. But she also ended up destroying most of Twilight.
And then there's Mandrake. The poor unicorn seems so misguided in her assumptions of friendship, but she's also brilliant and extremely perceptual. And THAT worries me most because I'm sure it will get her into trouble before she knows it.
2513899 Abused and tortured is really the wrong words for what Daffodil did. Remember that Mandrake got the same treatment, at least until Midnight showed up and became the new target. Mandrake was able to see it for what is was, just friendly teasing and harmless pranks. That's how she and Daffodil could be such good friends, because Mandrake knew that Daffodil never meant to be hurtful.
Despite believing herself and other pegasi to be superior, Daffodil doesn't hate unicorns, in fact there are subtle hints that she might have had a crush on Midnight before things went bad, and that this is what she wrote about in her diary.
It's not quite clear how Midnight herself experienced it, or why she did what she did, although she appear to not really understand that this is just Daffodil trying to be friendly in a lighthearted and not terribly serious way. If Daffodil and Mandrake did anything wrong, it was not realizing that perhaps this was not the best way to make friends with Midnight or to make her lighten up.
Of course, Midnight being Midnight, perhaps there is no good way to make friends with her. It's really tragic and sad, but Midnight was probably born the way she was. She didn't become that way because of a few pranks, or because Daffodil got better grades than her without any work at all (I suspect that bothered her more than the teasing and pranks, though it's hard to really know what Midnight feels).
2516230 Ah, I think it was just my fault. Since this is a darker story, I guess I just assumed that part to be darker as well, instead of reading it at face value.
Also, all three of these stories are completely under-read/viewed.
2517770 Fillystata and MitM got most of their attention and views back before they were submitted here on FiMFiction, sadly. Both of them have a lot more views and comments on dA, as well as EqD.
2520634 Hm... I'd heard about Fillystata being on DA, since that's where my cousin found it, but I didn't know that MitM was there too. Either way, I'm glad that at least two out of the three are getting their justification, even if I didn't know 'till just now.
It's getting hard to tell who to feel sorry for!

2516022 Oh my... I think I may have taken Mandrake's writings as understatements by mistake. My apologies, I see how things match up now.

If there are any parts you think could be clearer, I'd love to hear. I don't want to give the wrong impressions by mistake
Also I seem to be getting very few comments on this story

I submit almost all my stories to dA too. Stitch is an exception.
2525601 Oh...
I think I have to do something on DA now...
And Midnight finally shows up. I still hate her.
