This story is a sequel to Thomas and Friends: The Feast of Steven
Christmas has returned to Britain, and this means all sorts of new things to do, and new adventures for our heroes. Join Sunny and the gang for a new series of stories during Christmastime. Thrills, spills, and overall merriment await as the team mark the merriest time of the year the only way they know how.
This collection contains adaptations of Thomas and Friends and Tell your Tale adaptations, with an all new, special, original story as well!
I'm impressed there even are trains that use cooking oil. Here I thought only cars and trucks could do that.
And I caught onto the bit from Frozen. But I'll admit when it comes to me and snowmen, and songs. I'm the kind of guy who thinks of Frosty.
Moreover, you once again amaze me with your setting mixture!
Also, oddball question, was Rebecca sporting a standard pointy snowplow or grader blade style?
11778225
It's usually smaller engines or vertical boiler engines, given those can be run on basically any fuel (a Sentinel locomotive was once succesfully run using only refuse instead of coal).
Frosty is also often thought of in the UK, given he is ingrained into Christmas culture. Christmas without Frosty the Snowman is like Coca Cola adverts without Santa wearing red; it's not conceivable to many.
As noted in the AN, I felt Snow Pun Intended accidentally became rather mean-spirited; Posey is not the nicest of ponies, but forcing folks to do stuff when they clearly don't enjoy it is hardly making the Mane 5 look good.
Rebecca is fitted with a Stanier wedge plough rather than a grater design, as the former is easier to find.
11778228
Ah.
True that, given his story involves "Christmas snow".
And your story showcases Posey redeeming herself a little. The fact she drove the thing she hated in the start just to insure a town would get its load shows she isn't that heartless.
Got it.
11778229
As Make your Mark demonstrates, Posey does have a nice side. Nightmare on Mane Street reveals she is good friends with Windy, suggesting she is something of a defrosting ice queen to use the TV Tropes term.
11778233
A good term to use.
cool start mate
great start mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter
11778243
Cheers.
11778303
Thanks.
11778313
Snow ain't for everybody, but it can also be useful.
So another version of a rotary snowplow to be exact?
I do know a place that runs on recycled waste vegetable oil! The Grand Canyon Railway to be exact. Which, funnily enough, another place in America did that to their steam engine too!!
That's normal Posey. It's happens wherever snow goes or falls.
Now that I can agree with. I can't stand that song!!!
Yep. I know many places that have done winter photo charters for that reason.
Black ice?
Same with doing your own version of the season 6 episode It's only snow. I know some people think it's not accurate, but this episode has a special place in my heart and is a Christmas themed episode I'm always down to watching this time of year.
11778362
1. I believe the two terms are roughly analogous in meaning.
2. I believe the C&T is converting one of the K-36s to run on waste cooking oil.
3. Very true.
4. On that we are agreed. A decade back we couldn't escape people singing Let it Go ad nauseum.
5. The exact point of winter operations (a shame that UK lines seem to largely do wonderlights at this time of year).
6. Invisible and hard to spot ice that can cause serious problems with braking, as it causes wheels to lock up.
7. It's a fun story with a good moral, and for that reason alone it sits in my good graces.
11778408
2. Recycled oil like 489. Not waste vegetable oil like GCR 4960 & US Sugar 148.
4. For a good year after that movie came out, my sister annoyed the hell out of me with that song. She stopped fortunately, but I still hate that song whenever someone brings it up or I hear it playing.
6. Ah!
7. Indeed!
11778428
2. Neat.
4. Yikes. Good thing they stopped.
6. No problem.
7. And much of the fandom holds this opinion.
awesome chapter mate k4eep it up cant wait for the next chapter toad is right there are magical things about snow
11779002
Sure is. But it can be annoying.
I hope she doesn't regret saying that later.
hat*
Like that'll cheer him up.
11779070
1. Indeed.
2. Fixed.
3. In theory. Snow is very cold.
This was quite an adventure. A nice adaptation of a very snowy tale.
And I'm not gonna lie, I find it a little hard to believe the pipes in a house would freeze just like that. First in Paddington Bear, now here, how is it that pipes freeze in someone's house in Britain based shows?
11779107
mhm
11779132
In extreme cold they do. There were many such incidents during the cold snap last year.
11779144
Brrrrr.
11779150
Oh, well that shows my lack of knowledge when it comes to plumbing.
11779175
No worries.
cool chapter mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter
Not now!
Figures.
Oh I see where this is going and by that title now!
Yep. You know Izzy and her fourth wall breaks.
Yes and imo only the first 2 were good, the third one was terrible, and we didn't needed not 1 but 2 seasons of a show on it.
That is pretty much why I don't like the episode that much. It's still good but I hate the fact it was turned into a thanksgiving episode and that if you watched it on amazon it's audio doesn't match up the footage for the last half of the episode. I can understand why it was turned into a thanksgiving episode, but imo I would've liked it to be a Christmas episode as it was in the U.K.
11779694
That was one chaotic night for her.
11779761
1. Cue gratuitous Spanish.
2. Indeed.
3. Time for a rescue!
4. When is it ever useful?
5. One of only two things Tim Allen is really known for (the other is Toy Story).
6. I will never really understand why they did the retooling, apart from the fact if they made a dedicated Thanksgiving episode they'd have the reverse problem (UK viewers would struggle to follow what was going on).
11779840
5 & 6. Yep
11779843
Much confusion and delay.
11779855
indeed it did.
11779869
But such confusion is now over.
11779996
yep
11780013
Forever.
What a story. And I totally get why Sunny would have trouble with cookie baking, trying to wing it isn't as easy as it looks. I even know a YouTube series where they took it to an unnecessary ridiculousness.
I wonder what cookies Misty likes, however?
And it still urks me how they would mess up that one episode. I mean, you'd think at some point they would've fixed it in someway.
And technical goof aside, Izzy is right about worrying it the supplies hit the people. I mean, they dropped the crates down. (While in Fireman Sam, Tom was wise to put parachutes on the supplies he dropped)
I'm pleasantly surprised.
I've read several Thomas crossovers on this site, and many left much to be desired. They had convoluted plots with massive holes or didn't make any sense, and worst of all, nearly all of them had so many grammatical errors as to render them neigh unreadable.
Yours has excellent grammar, is an easy read, has simple, short, and straightforward plots that are fun, and you've done an excellent job at capturing the personalities of the ponies, peoples, and trains. Plus, you even slipped in some TYT easter eggs and managed alittle Pinkie-Pie-fourth-wall tomfoolery to boot! Kudos to you on creating an enjoyable crossover that's a fun and high-spirited read!
11780098
I could easily relate to that. Me and my dad bake cheese based pastries around Christmastime, and the recipe has been developed over many years of trial and error; some of our early efforts resembled Sunny's disastrous attempts in the TYT short.
Me too. Considering how she reacted to popcorn in the sleepover episode, that seems like an option.
I only became aware of the shoddy edit when I joined the internet TTTE community (as for obvious reasons the Thanksgiving edit didn't air in the UK). Given that the fans have fixed the incorrectly timed narration, it amazes me Mattel seemingly can't.
Not only is simply throwing crates out of the side of a helicopter potentially lethal to the people down below, the supplies could easily be damaged on impact. This is why, as you rightly point out, airdropped supplies need to have a parachute connected to them. A broken shovel is of use to nobody, after all. Well, maybe Izzy (as she could unicycle it), but that's besides the point.
11780318
Thank you so much! One of my main objectives with these stories was to try and capture the tone and style of the original series whilst blending it with what I like about MLP G5. The difference in my approach is that the G5 characters reside in the same world as the Thomas and Friends characters rather than travelling there, which eliminates the need for dimension hopping. Keeping the plot easy to follow is also important to me; better a simple story told well than a complex one told badly.
This is actually the latest entry in a long series of these sorts of tales. I can link you to the first story in the series if you'd like.
11780429
I’ve had some of my errors with cooking a few things in my day.
Quite right.
I was aware of it from several VHS tapes and DVDs I own where it showcased that error. And given what Mattel is doing these days, they wouldn’t care less about tiny things like that.
Exactly. And snow may be like a pillow in certain ways, but it’s not that much like a pillow. And it’s hard to predict where it’ll land so you can’t catch it using several people holding open a blanket or trap like a net.
Hence why a parachute is a better option.
Given the amazing things Izzy can do with broken objects, she would’ve fashioned a different kind fo shovel from a broken one.
11780433
A similar example of a goof I had no familiarity with was 'look out for the train', which has since attained meme status in the fanbase.
Though it seems Harold's crew learned from this experience, as in Percy's Promise (broadcast one season later) the supply box is dropped by parachute.
No doubt about that. If TYT is anything to go by Izzy is a qualified welder.
great chapter mate keep it up cant wait for the next chapter Underneath the Mistytoe was very funny
11780540
Dragonfire, dragonfire, that's what I desire!
Whatever it it, it can't be good!
Yep.
He's in for trouble now.
Knew it!
Was wondering if you'd ever do a story on one of Michael White episodes. And I'm glad you choose his best one, hunt the truck.
11780561
1. You shall learn more about this operation in the next story.
2. So can I.
3. This is a classic comedy setup-identical bags with different things in them.
4. A dog and a rod are rather different.
It's a favourite of mine as well, and an example of what BWBA could have been. It, and the story about Toby, were examples of what the show could be when they actually put some effort in.
11780585
Michael White was the hidden gem of BWBA imo.
11780632
A writer who legitimately understood the characters and knew how to work them into interesting stories.
11780658
Same with a few of the other writers but not all of them.
11780690
Indeed.
This was a very nice chapter. I like the idea this episode had. But I have to wonder, what was Cloudpuff doing inside a bag on the back of a lorry in the first place? A coincidence?
11781089
The intended implication was that Boomer had stuck Cloudpuff in the bag by mistake somehow.
