I suppose in a way it is a bucket list, since in theory her life on earth is going to be over by the end of the year.
Boeing here we come!
Those are some interesting goals. I hope she can accomplish all of them before she leaves in December!
Oh Silver, aren't the humans enough?
Truly, Silver has some lofty goals in life.
Also, I wonder what happens once the year is over... I know this is months away (in real and story time), but let me be the first to say sequel please. :P
That is a lot of goals for a month or so left. She ought to pick ones like read the Bible that she can do in Equestria, and de-prioritize those.
7364730
It is, unless she overstays her student Visa.
7364741
Or else Cessna (since Miss Parker has tried to sell Kansas as a vacation destination).
A what now?
7364841
It's only May. She's on Earth until the end of the year. She has plenty of time.
7364757
She ought to be able to do most of them.
7364774
Some big goals and some little goals.
We shall see.
7364841
Seven months--she's on Earth until the end of December.
7364850
Society for Creative Anachronism--one of the things they do is stage battles using historical techniques. She's seen one at Val Day, and if she had a padded glaive, it might be a chance for her to see how her skills stacked up to a human.
I made a bucket list once:
- Make a bucket list
I'm really glad to have it out of the way!
Will she ever fall truly in love with aric already? !
Boy, Silver really loves Taco Bell.
Horses riding horses
I almost want to write a poem about horses from pony perspective now.
7364850
7364855 Ohhh. Whoops, thought she was hear for one semester. Good for her, and good for us!
7364757 I'm personally rooting for her to stay longer, heh. Not even necessarily because I want to keep reading about her (though I gladly would) but because I think it'd be interesting, and in keeping with how the meeting of cultures often works.
7364839 WWI was strange because people knew they were fighting individual people very much like themselves. And yet with a few exceptions, no one just decided not to, no matter how horrible and obvious a waste it was. It tells you something about humans.
WWII tells you something different; because the governments were very different in character then, people could tell themselves the individual people they were fighting weren't like themselves, and so we keep glorifying it to this day, even though the necessity shouldn't make us forget the waste.
Basically both wars (or the single war with a halftime, however you prefer to think about it) combine to tell us a lot about how we engage with history. And of course it's different in the US than in other places, too.
Glad you were able to keep up the pace and at least write something today!
7364730 7364847 Of course, even after her student visa expires, Silver Glow can come back later on a work visa! She could help tend to horses, like the guy at the horse show was suggesting - and that way, no one can accuse her of taking Americans' jobs because no human could possibly be as qualified as she is !

He was talking about the 1968 French Revolution.
Of them all, I suspect she will need the most assistance for the "Fly an airplane."
Maybe she could consider a nice delta-wing ultralight?
7364598
not in the rough
I thought student visas lasted longer than 1 year.
Wondering what aircraft will she piloting and will she can have chance to piloting helicopter?i
And worldwide travel across earth globe.
How is this different from flying for her?
Wouldn't she think hurtling towards the ground without actually pulling up at the end to be stupid?
7364864
Ohhh, I've heard of that.
Roadtrip with Aric? Sounds interesting enough. Hopefully she won't go stir crazy in the cab.
>Visit an airplane factory
>Fly an airplane

With a little creativity, a gun and a ski mask, she could do all of these things in sequence.
7364665
One advantage of putting as much research into the story as you do - when I read it, I assumed that while the students in the story didn't understand it, you did.
For context, Yeats was friends with many of the revolutionaries of the 1916 Rising (and particularly despised one of them as well), and much of Easter 1916 is eulogising the leaders of the Rising, and how they had changed, both in the violence of the Rising and how the legacy of the executed leaders would be changed in the future to all Irish people.
Silver might be particularly interested that the description of Pearse as someone who "rode our wingèd horse" is about Pearse being a fellow poet. So, apparently Yeats associated Pegasus with poetry long before Silver arrived on Earth...
Ride a horse? That's probably going to be weird for everyone involved. Including the horse.
7365475
Especially for a stallion...
"What's that...? What are you...? Is that a mare on my back? I can smell her from here. Why is there a mare on my back?! Sweet baby Epona, the world has gone crazy! There's a mare riding ME!"
Should I read this as a spoiler list for future chapters?
For some reason, when I read that, I pictured her as a grizzled World War 2 pilot behind the stick. ^^
7365138 Huh, I never knew it came from him.
Also my feed thing didn't tell me about this reply, possibly because it's on a different page to the original post. So now I'm worried I'm missing replies, a fimfiction glitch?
THAT !
7365563
In Soviet Equestria... (Do I even need to finish the punchline? )
7365224 I think she mentioned how she would like to kinda sorta fly with her huma friend.
With an actual sky-diving parachute, or just using her own wings?
In either case, would that involve taking off from a mountain or an airplane? I'm guessing that if she wants to go together with a human jumping from a plane, she has to go up in the plane herself, or else wait far below the plane.
7365349
If she brings a sword instead of a gun, she could strike off "SCA battle" at the same time.
(Side note: I don't think the ski mask is going to be terribly effective at disguising her. )
7366032

If you're not the author, you only get notified if replies are on the same chapter (that is, if you commented on chapter 10, you'll only get notified if a reply is also on chapter 10). Any comments go to whatever chapter you currently have open, unless you haven't got any open in which case I think they get attached to the last chapter [not 100% sure about that].
Any comment to me (or any author on his or her own story) works a bit differently. I see them all, no matter what chapter you comment on. If you reply on the same chapter I see a double notification (X replied to your comment and X commented on your story); if you reply on a different chapter, it's just a single notification (X commented on your story).
7364847 Bombardier has a facility in Toronto, she can make a trip out of it. First Stratford, then Toronto!
I'm just imagining her flying circles around the observation deck of the CN Tower.
There's a flight pattern that smaller craft can use to tour downtown Toronto. There's one in Niagara Falls too.

7364903
What is true love?
7365005
It's one of her favorite things on Earth.
7365016
I feel that you ought to.
7365055
Well, we'll see.
Yeah, the US has not had any major conflicts on its soil since the Civil War (at least if I remember my history right), so we've got a very different perspective on wars than, say, Europe.
7365076
Technically, I wrote a lot of something: like, enough material that y'all won't be wanting while I'm at Bronycon. It was just a matter of publishing schedule (and my original plan was to do this chapter at the same time as the next, but then I thought there's only going to be an eight hour gap, so might as well space 'em out.
That's a possibility.
7365132
7365158
Presumably they won't let her solo. But Mark (the guy who helped her get her ornithopter license) would probably be willing to take her up and let her use the controls for a while. My brother's let me fly his airplane and I am 100% unqualified.
7365215
True, true. In my defense, mini-golf courses don't have 'rough' (unless you count 'off the course' as 'rough'), and my only other experience with golf courses is driving by them.
Since she's an exchange student, she's only good for a year.
7365221
I don't know yet. Probably something fairly simple. And maybe she'll get to fly a helicopter, too.
7365224
It's not; the advantage (for her) is that the skydiving plane could potentially go above her 'legal' altitude, since it would be flying in special airspace (I assume [although I don't know for a fact] that skydiving space is blocked off so other airplanes don't fly through it).
7365336
The way to avoid going stir-crazy is every time you see something interesting, stop and look at it, then go on. Which is why a road trip in college from Kalamazoo to Ludington took two days, and why when I went from Lansing to Sault Ste. Marie it took three.
7365349
How do you even hold a gun with hooves?
orig08.deviantart.net/771c/f/2013/293/3/4/flutterspy_by_ncmares-d6r4t6g.jpg
...oh, NVM.
7365461
I had assumed it was about the Easter truce (which I have since found out was in 1915).
Actually, I might as well admit now that poetry isn't really my strong suite . . . but I think Conrad would be more interested in how the class responded to a poem rather than whether they fully understood the origins of it. After all, that's what keeps art alive.
Can I pretend I knew that beforehand and that's why Silver Glow likes poetry?
7365475
The horse might be the only one not really weirded out by it. All sorts of animals ride horses, and the horses don't seem to mind.
knippknopp.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/dog-and-horse.jpg
7365563
Well, yeah. Especially if Silver is in estrus. . . .
7365754
You could.
7365887
One of the playlists I listen to while I write has that very image, and now it's all I can think of.

7366938
That, and being able to fly higher than she can with her current license (if the airplane goes higher, that is).
7367151
Her own wings
She would go up in the plane, but it would be a lot different than a pressurized jet, and not so bad for her, probably.
(Extra cred if she shouts 'there can be only one.'
I've been meaning to write a short HiE comedy where for the ponies, simply covering the cutie mark is a 100% effective disguise.
7368387
Diamond's got one in London, too; my brother used to work there (not sure if they build aircraft there or if it's just a research/test facility).
That would be great. She really needs to do more buzzing of skyscrapers, just to confuse people inside. Or get a part-time job as a window-washer.
