The many reasons I don't use canon ponies.

I: Overused in fanfics. Give the OC's some love man! D:

II: Their personalities can be trashed or changed in the blink of an eye.

III: The personalities are rather boring. You can't come in with a canon pony saying that they have some dumb fetish, but with your own OC you can. With canon ponies, there's always that one guy who will start screaming "ZOMFG DAT NO CANON!!!!!!111!!!1one" if you make one mistake or decide to change something up about their boring lifestyles.

IV: They are only based with limited anything. For example, with Rainbow Dash, she is fast and a tomboy. Wouldn't it get boring to read hundreds of other fanfics about the same thing? That's why OC stands for original character, you can make them be whatever and have endless.

V: Canon ponies can be boring.

VI: Any idea involving one of the Mane Six and shipping could be considered cliché in my opinion. I'm not saying that I dislike or like any of those, but it's not original to have over nine-thousand (Eight-thousand actually, 'murrica mistranslated it :p ) stories with the same ending: She kisses her or he kisses she or... well, I hope you know what I mean.

VII: YOU decide what happens to the character. With OC's, them dying could be saddening, but not enough for like what happens in the comments section after somepony canon kills somepony else canon.

VIII: The traits of OC's can be unique.

IX: Ship one canon couple and make a story about it, some of the childish shippers of one of those ponies and another pony will somewhat sound like this: "ERMAHGERD joo ship dis? dun ship dat trash, ship -Insert couple here-".

X: You can find a great amount of unused detail in OC's, whereas canon ponies have practically been milked for more details.

There's ten at least. This is what I think, but the people who don't agree with me will most likely leave an angry comment because most people do NOT know what an opinion is. Seriously, if you don't like it, don't read it, it's that simple. Now enough ranting for now, I just finished chapter 2 of Trickstar's Happiness and I feel very tired due to it being 2:00 am. Good whatever, 'murrica, Equestria, wherever you are located at and if it's morning, the afternoon, the evening, or night.
