En route to an escort mission, Jedi General Jorcen Alketses' strike fleet is ambushed and destroyed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During the retreat a stray blast damages his hyperdrive as he makes the jump. Unable to control his ship, he finds himself in the atmosphere of a colorful terrestrial world. Which he promptly crashes into. When he recovers he finds the world is inhabited by small equines called ponies, many of which display amazing abilities. With his ship damaged beyond repair, he tries to build relation with the ponies and other races that call the planet home. For he knows that the war will find them and when it does he hopes this planet is ready.

Everypony remembers exactly what they were doing when they first found out about the griffin invasion. Many saw it as a growing shadow that threatened to overtake all of Equestria. To those in the towns and cities that would become the front lines, it was a terror made real. With Canterlot in flames and Princess Celestia injured, many wondered how anypony could make everything right again. I was among them.

But we did it. Together.

These are my experiences and lessons learned during The Great Griffin Invasion, and it’s not just my story. War is a dark affair, but we can always learn something from the worst of times. In fact, we have to. The lessons are too costly to let them go to waste. And maybe, with a little help from this book, we won’t ever forget.

But as she and the others soon find out, war is more complicated than it seems and may prove too much a challenge, even to the Princess of Friendship.

A first-in scout from the Associated Worlds investigates the anomalous star system IGS 254672, expecting to find the home of a machine god. She finds herself making first contact with sophont ponies instead. A couple of them are weakly godlike ponies, but still...

Neither world will be quite the same again.
