When Octavia thought about it, all classical music sounded the same. However, when she composes a piece pushing the boundaries of music, her composition is bashed by the critics. After seeing an article in the paper, Octavia travels to New York City in 1978 seeking inspiration. Her answer comes not from the concert halls or academics, but rather from a cab ride.

Thorax is a junior processor, class Q, and has lived his entire life in the hive, yet he dreams of things bigger. Grander. Much more important than watching pH levels in vats all day. Wouldn't you know it, his application to the espionage services gets accepted, too! Maybe he really is going places!
Except he nearly flunked the exam, and knows nothing of the outside world. Regardless, Queen Chrysalis charges him with a very important mission: Spying on the inhabitants of Ponyville, especially Twilight Sparkle.
Nothing, of course, goes right after that.

Immediately after her concert, Octavia is riddled with guilt after what she said to Vinyl on the phone so she rushes home to apologize only to find a horrifying and heartbreaking scene. Now practically an outcast in Ponyville Octavia wonders if she'll ever be forgiven for what she has done.

Music has been a constant in Luna's life. Before her banishment, she'd spent hours conversing with composers about their works, and even tried her hoof at composition herself.

As it turns out, being trapped in your own mind with a power crazed lunatic bent on eternal night doesn't leave much room for music.

Maybe a good old fashioned symphony, a walk, and some company can reignite that spark, or at least give it to someone else.

Once again Spike is left alone at the library while Twilight is away. Bored and tired of always staying inside he decides to go to a night club with a friend. While there he meets a mare that shows him to loosen up and live life to the fullest.

Written as a 1000 word challenge fic to answer a question that I have been asked often.

"Everything scared me. The thunder, the twisted trees, and the darkness. The darkness was the worst. Everywhere I ran, it followed. No matter how fast or in what direction it was there....I cried out for my mother, but there was no response. Every cry was ignored, until she came."

While on her way back to Canterlot, Princess Celestia must stop in Ponyville for the night while a storm blows over. She finds a young colt crying for his mother in the Everfree Forest. He only remembers some basic spells and his age. She takes him back to Ponyville, only to learn that no one has even seen him before. The Princess takes him back to Canterlot and tries to find him a home, but something happens that changes all of that.

This is my first story so please be honest with me and help me become a better writer.
