Dragons aren't usually known to be kind and loving towards ponies. In fact, they're usually brutes who want to destroy any pony they come across.

But then there's another kind of dragon altogether.

And when Fluttershy finds herself in a life and death situation, she might see the other side to a dragon.

Spike wakes up one morning to find Twilight missing, but a note was left for him. His goal is to adventure throughout his home town of Ponyville, receiving clues as to his friend's location. The question is, will he make it in time?

All Fluttershy needs is a little bit of help, and everything will be fine. She can always count on her friends to help her in her time of need. They're such good friends. But... where are they?

Wow, Fluttershy sure looks rough. Like, really rough. She says that she's just been up late since she joined a band. At least, that's what she's told her friends. Twilight suspects otherwise. After all, Fluttershy's much too gentle and shy a pony to have joined a band. Clearly something else is up.

Everypony tells Twilight she's worrying over nothing. That is, until Fluttershy is seen in the company of strange ponies. And going around town in a cloak. And showing up at strange places!

Fluttershy? Is everything okay?

Celestia has finally found her eternal partner in love. Twilight Sparkle, Element of Magic, savior of Equestria, and co-ruler of the nation. Celestia feels nothing but pride and love for her student, friend, and lover. However, a secret remains hidden in her heart, hidden from herself. Why did she choose Twilight, of all ponies, to be her student?

Unfortunately for her, Discord knows the answer all too well.

In a last act of defiance, King Sombra not only dragged the Crystal Empire with him to his thousand-year imprisonment, but the Elements of Harmony as well. And so, with the rise of Nightmare Moon, the course of history was forever altered.

A thousand years later, on the Eve of Hearth's Warming, a certain young dragon is tasked with overseeing some of the preparations for the upcoming celebration, with a strange addition to the list; make a few friends. He can't imagine why; it's not as though the fate of Equestria depends on it.

But neither could he imagine the return of the dark king on that very night, and never would it cross his mind that he would soon embark on a journey to the north to stop him, with a group of strangers by his side.

Daring Do goes on an epic quest to cross magnificent landscapes, to scale impenetrable boundaries, and to transcend herself.

Jason has been in Equestria for quite some time and has lived countless lives. Some have been short, others have been rather long. No matter the length, they all share one thing in common. They all end in fire and flames.

He has spent centuries wandering the countryside, gravitating towards events. When whispered words of Nightmare Moon's return reach his ears, his feet take him to Canterlot, where what he encounters leaves himself and many others more than intrigued.

An idea that sparked a story. Immortality is an often used plot device with a Human In Equestria story, and I wanted something different, something new, something... fresh. Thus, the concept of mimicking the phoenix came to life, and from it, this story.

Twilight Sparkle is now a princess, and she has acclimated into her position well. This year, she will experience her first Nightmare Night as a princess, but being a princess means sacrificing free time for hard work.

But tonight is not her best night. On this Nightmare Night, the night where nightmares come true, the past will come back to haunt her.

This story was originally written to be for the EqD Nightmare Night contest/competition thing. As you can tell, I have missed the date. But I promised that I would release it, and so I am.

The Nightmare has returned, using Rarity as her new vessel. Twilight steps up boldly to save her, but is soon lost to the darkness. What evils lie in wait for these two now? What horrors await the innocent in their path? Can they take over Equestria?

Not likely, seeing as it's still Twilight and Rarity, and despite the new looks, it's the same old ponies. A new romance between the pair does little to aid their conquest. Heck, it would take complete incompetence on the guards part and easily scared ponies to see these two in any real position of... power...
