Don't worry he is not overpowered ... yet. Anyways, that dragon was going to kill the entire country by suffocation or starvation, so death is a mercy. But if you don't want him to be OP, do what all DND games do at this point: stronger monsters! He is almost LV 10, and you are saving people from kingdom-sized threats by that point.
I'm surprised he didn't say, "I will send you back to The Avaricious myself," or something similar when the dragon started insulting Luna.

Ignis does actually know draconic and I had him say some stuff to him in draconic as a tactic to like throw him off momentarily right before he attacked but I decided it was too many words and realistically he wouldnt say anything, when you snap you SNAP, went straight in for the kill
Whaaat the fuck, Celestia? I thought this was supposed to be an "Ignis, please, not everything needs to be solved with violence" moment, but instead you flip your lid in an instant far worse? There better be a scolding from someone and it better not be from her.

To be fair, this is not the 'normal' Celestia after all. This is still a Celestia who is very protective of her little sister whom she has just recently still gotten back from a 1000 year banishment. Said dragon rather happily and with no regrets insulted Luna, called her banishment nothing more then a nap and was making rather grave threats since said dragon was aware of how Nightmare's plans would potentially kill a lot of life, if not all life and he was promising worse then that for Luna and to personally see to it happening. It's an overprotective princess of the sun who is having her sister insulted, threatened to be taken from her again and likely permanently if the dragon could have had his way. 1000 years was bad enough so... Overreaction? Perhaps but she wouldn't dare risk losing Luna again after what has barely been a month, if that.

Hmm. Even so, I'm certain Celestia's internally screaming at herself. Or at the very least she will be after she realises that not only did she fuck up, she did so in front of the elements and her sister.
And I'm fairly sure that Luna would be a little concerned about how easily her sister resorted to extreme measures over hate aimed at her.
The fact that Celestia notes how as a mage Ignis is limited (in respect to pony mages) reminds me of a little story that explains why (in lore).
Karsus. The Child Who Would Become a God. Some short research shows that "Arcane Age" materials used a points-based casting system which could be thought of as using one's own mana, and after Karsus inadvertantly caused the death and rebirth of Mystryl into Mystra she placed restrictions on wizards that brought them to the AD&D 1e system, which is much more restrictive although the edition changes over time have lifted some of those restrictions (such as cantrips, only needing to prepare a spell once to cast it multiple times as opposed to one preparation per cast, and so on).
What I'm going to call "Mystral Wizards" are limited due to the hubris of the only mortal to cast a 12th-level spell, which no more are even capable of touching. And that was an incredibly long time ago.
Actually, Karsus ended up causing all weave-based spellcasters (any spellcaster in D&D) to become limited to the spell slot system given how spellcasting is kept standardised with only differences in spellcasting ability, whether you are prepared or known (or both for wizards), and your actual spell list you can pick from.
Yeah, I guess threatening to assassinate royalty, publicly, in a medieval society would get you killed with no repercussions.
Or at least to respected heroes of the land

The pride of a dragon will never cease to amaze me
Hey! That's rude! Celestia stole all his XP for defeating the dragon!

I'm not gunna lie I assumed you'd given up haha, it's funny cause I added the xp to my dndbeyond sheet to keep track of it but completely forgot to notate it here, I'll just find a way to bring it up next chapter, I don't want the people that already read this one to miss out on the info, ty again
Next chapter might be delayed for a few days, I want to see what the Wizard changes are for the 2024 PHB and I'm going to rebuild the character to those new rules
Unless Bladesinger isn't in the PHB then I'll just send 50 hate emails to WoTC every day
Yes he's an adult, but he's also got longer than your current lifespan to learn and master it, Luna.
It really is. The last time the goddess of magic let people learn and use magic freely, they built a mighty world-spanning civilization and tried to cast down (and possibly enslave) her brethren.

There are times when the characters feel a bit out of character or exaggerated, but not to the point where it breaks immersion. Some of the characters you don't really see the traits of outside of what their job or role demands of them in the show, so it can be explained away as 'they have this trait but it's off camera or the circumstance where it would show simply hasn't happened. Even a sibling will have their own parts of themselves they keep from the other.

Celestia is probably the most OOC out of all of them, but like you said I've been trying to make sure I don't overdo it.
The initial draft had the familiar overhear celestia admitting that sending Ignis to the dragon was intended to be a suicide mission, but I walked back that entire plot point cause it was too OOC and it prevented me from having the mane 6 there.
Wait I just realized did I have celestia say "someone" in this chapter? Gunna go check that
Thanks for reading!
