I got tired of waiting and read the green. I certainly hope there aren't going to be extensive rewrites, my autismo wouldn't be happy about it.

I'm afraid not even close.
I wonder if any of those old pony parts could be put back together??
Loving the reality and pacing in this story. You aren't breaking character to speed up the story and I appreciate that a lot.

No spoilers please. I know I have no right to ask you what you can and can not post, but...
I'm purposely not reading the green so I can see the story unfold here.
So I'm asking everyone to not post spoilers, please.
Also, wow. That back corner graveyard... Maybe she had to "cannibalize" some of her fellow ponies for parts. That would fuck up anyone.
And how realistic are these pony robots?
Her breathing, shaking muscles, eras showing feelings, tears, her entire attitude, intelligence and demeanor? There's got to be something more going on here.
Can't wait for how this plays out. (But I can wait enough to not read the green text.)
I was at a track day a few months ago and one of the drivers had a series 1 E-Type. He gave me the pleasure of riding shotgun for a few laps. What a machine. The guy didn't hang around either, he drove it how it was meant to be driven... more money than me and my MX5
Oh geez... I can only imagine waking up... baaaasically in a pile of corpses. Eugh... Yeah, that's trauma and a half. John's a good man. Sometimes you just have to take it REAL friggin' slow.
While a bit grim, I was wondering if John could find some "spare parts" for Midnight in that back corner... Because if she's actually mechanical in some way then she WILL eventually need repairs. (Though I agree with others that something fishy seems to be going on with her.) But with John's talk on burying them, stripping them of parts might be to much. And might get Midnight to detest him in all honesty.

Yeah, personally I'm thinking this is the ACTUAL NMM somehow possessing a doll... or something. Because if science in that world has advanced enough to give animatronics lifelike muscles, tear ducts, a "magnetic field" powerful enough to move metal but doesn't fuck up the laptop right next to her, and a functioning gastrointestinal tract, then something tells me John's daily life would much more closely resemble Star Trek.
Barely started reading into the chapter and let me tell ya. I own a 1990 Jag XJ-S, the V-12. It’s a dream to drive, but holy shit, that thing isn’t just a nightmare to wrench on. It’s a fever dream. And it also gets a whopping 13-14 miles to the gallon

Yeah, I've heard of what maintenence entails and seen an engine bay - that's a lot of vacuum lines and other assorted hoses - not to mention electrical - that when they start getting old and brittle, it's a mess to figure out what is causing an issue.
Rear brake job itself looks like an awful undertaking. But that fuel mileage doesn't sound half bad, I was expecting worse. Then again, out of the three cars I own, that fuel mileage beats one and matches another.

An editing pass wouldn't hurt this story, so waiting is a reasonable thing to do. It's generally very good though.

Yeah, I noted this in an earlier chapter.

The lack of megalomania is potentially due to both getting a Harmony-sandblasted personality prior to universe-ejection, and potentially due to her long-term desperation when she was forced to face her lack of power as she has to piece together a functioning body out of semi-functional robot ponies around her over the course of days or weeks.
As far as the magnetic field thing, that could be just her excuse for her magic (as it was early in their relationship and she might have thought he would kick her out if she didn't help somehow), as I agree that if humanity could actually build AI as sophisticated as Nightmare seems to be (if she is one) and control magnetic fields that powerful so accurately then human-managed junkyards would likely be a thing of the past, precisely for the reasons our MC is failing. Those old cars are a known system, exactly the sort of thing a weak AI would be great at managing and dealing with, plus you don't have to pay the AI and it would be able to find buyers for parts very quickly as the inventory would be super up-to-date. An AI-managed disassembly building (using those super-magnets) that people drop off their clunkers in that strips all the useful parts off, a crusher/disposal building for immediately scrapping everything that's beyond saving, and a parts warehouse with an AI-managed online inventory that ships immediately, 24/7/365. There's no way a human-run facility could compete.

I've been wondering about Midnight's nature since she showed up claiming to eat rats to survive. Either robotics has advanced to nearly replicating biological lifeforms without completely disrupting global society or something more profound and local has gone on. Is it some weird synergy of a prototype and chance? Was it a lightning bolt and suddenly "Jhonny 5 is alive!" (fun movie by the way) or was there really Equestrian shenanigans at work here? If it really is the banished Nightmare, this robot pony should be a lot more hostile and manipulative.
Still, there's some primo nightmare creepypasta fuel in the junkyard where the pony parts have been dumped... assuming they're all just as advanced as Midnight with functioning organs and such. Questions then turn to; is it antiseptic building blocks like the plastic anatomy dumies from class or the exposed view of a Generation 1 Synth from Fallout4? or is it like the milky sludge and plastic tubes when the android from Aliens was ripped in half and his guts fell out? And if you want to go a step further, the very biological-like Replicant body parts glimpsed in the movie Blade Runner...
Hug the pony mission success
One little typo where you accidentally hit n instead of space
I'm getting really pulled into this fic haha^^" you're doing an amazing job with everything
I feel I should ask... How do these pony models work?
Even the Ford era ones?
Sounds like someone needs a hug.
Sounds like she needed it too.
First base! We have first base!
Who wouldn't want to avoid the reminder that any one of those others could have easily been her? Still, there's catharsis opportunity here!

Magic.
