Chapter undergoing (hopefully) final edits · 5:39am Mar 29th, 2014
Yes, you read that right. The chapter is in a state I consider "done", barring final edits and tweaks. I've noted my editors and will have them comb over the chapter one more time to make sure everything's in tip-top shape before release. The chapter's close to 30K words, so I'll probably be splitting it in half for easier reading and releasing both chapters on the same day.
Last month, I thought the chapter was close to finish when I sent it to my editors, but after thinking about how to proceed with the story, I found myself really uncertain on how the story would move forward. I thought I knew, but the more I thought about it, the more unsatisfied I was. Let's just say the chapter could've gone one way or another, and I decided to choose a "middle" path that I think provides the best way for the story to proceed. I figure that once this round of editing is done, there will be about two or three chapters left in the story. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but I seem to be incapable of writing short chapters, so that could be another 20K-30K words, given my writing history. Possibly more.
The deleted material, including the alternate versions of how the chapter could've gone, along with all the deleted paragraphs or scenes that I couldn't really fit into the story, will also be released on my DA account, as previously mentioned (barring scenes that might be used in the future chapters, or may be withheld for a future story). All-in-all, those documents clock in at over 50K words.
Yes, fifty-thousand words. Some people have monkeys on their back, I feel like I've been carrying a gorilla. I'll go into further detail why that is once the chapter(s) are out, and I can be more free to talk about it.

God yes! 30k more words of one of the most truly spectacular stories (in general) that I have ever had the pleasure of reading! I have been anticipating this since I first read all the other chapters like 6 months ago, and I can't wait! I know it will be perfect.

That was very much my reaction too. Not the squeaking though; that was internal. I'm so happy to see that this story hasn't... *Sunglasses* ... given up the ghost.
And here I was beginning to think as we approach the 1 year mark since you updated the story that this story was dead.....but I'm glad I was proven wrong.
Nice to see this story's still kicking (a little sad it's not too far from its conclusion, but 'dragging on' and all that), and I'm curious, do you currently have plans on any future stories proper (particularly anything non-Mort related)?

Oh man. I've been anticipating this as much as I anticipated season 4. It's crazy to think that season 4 will most likely be over before this story. Looks like it will definitely be worth the wait though. Time to reread this whole thing before the new chapter comes out haha.
