pony versus human timeline for society creation and eventually domesticating the entire world · 4:09am Jun 11th, 2014
Both humans and ponies have domesticated their respective worlds. What do you think the process of taking over the planet looks like with different species?
Did we tame animals for the same reason ponies did? Did we reach town-level civilization at the same relative hour that they did?
Humans are persistence hunters --> hunting is a pain in the ass and is often deadly or fruitless --> keeping animals corralled will make killing them easier --> Pastoralism invented (Animal herding) --> Nomadic lifestyle --> foraging for plants is only way to obtain vegetable nutrition --> fuck that, let’s make farms --> farms invented.
Ponies are grazing herd animals --> predators are a pain in the ass --> keeping ourselves corralled will prevent predators from eating us --> Walls / fences invented --> Settled lifestyle --> gardens planted as food source --> small city states invented
The above is my shitty attempt at a timeline. Please argue with me about, as I am currently craving attention. Thank you
I think that the ponies are obsessed with controlling things. As in controlling as much of the world around them as possible.
On another thread, someone basically argued that:
Humans began snowballing towards bigger and more environment-manipulating technologies because we first domesticated the horse. The horse gave us battle advantages, superior farm labor, and let us traverse more land in a shorter amount of time which increased our territories. Which gave us secure empires, more plentiful food for those empires, and let us have wider trading routs.
Meanwhile, ponies begin domesticating their world only as their magic abilities grew. But... then, they do have technologies and things like fences. So, they are using physical means to get things done. Since they've always had magic, they must have had a trigger that made them turn to technology in some way. But what was it?
Compared to the Pony Planet, Earth is kind of a Death Planet.
Although, your Pony timeline makes sense for a herd-based, prey instinct driven species.
And your Human timeline makes sense for Humans, who like to have a lot of land to do things on. Such as farming both plant-life and animal life.
Ponies: Big close numbers good, spread out numbers bad.
Humans: Big spread numbers good, close numbers bad.
