...are currently disabled. As we work over to the bookshelf system, I wanted to scrap these emails that basically only cause issues with bulk sending. In the future we want to have a system that emails you weekly with a list of your updates if you opt into that.
edit: That's not to say I won't bring them back if people rely on them a lot...
edit: We're going to turn them back on for now and then bookshelves will be daily emails.

sorry to say, but i hate the sound of a weekly update. I prefer my live action updates that we have been receiving.
Any plans on getting notifications back up and running? I really do miss those things.

I follow stories that update daily; no sense in refreshing constantly. Not to mention it's nice to get the e-mail directly to the chapter, be able to open it, read, and not have to bother with the rest of the site when I don't want to. I'm not always in a place where I want to spend a lot of time on the site. It was convenient and something I used a lot. Sitting on my "unread favorites" page and hitting F5 every so often isn't something I'm ever going to spend time doing; that would be pointless.
So, does that mean bookshelves are almost here?

That's good. I don't like/use the email updates anyway. I get enough junk and am on the site enough that I don't need to see update notifications twice.

I think it was kinda like your current Favorites list and Read Later list become bookshelves, and you can make a bunch more of them, either public or private.
So you could have a bookshelf for cute, fluffy stories, another for scary stories, one for stories you're kinda meh on, but are following anyway, and so on.
It's probably gonna be pretty neat.

The weekly thing sounds good but I think you should also have the option for instant updates for those stories we really love.

Weekly announcement sounds f8ne to me but more frequency doesn't bother me either.
I rely mostly on the emails for story updates rather than the site. It's much more convenient.
I'd trade the bookshelves for group notifications and story update emails any day.

I just started to get email from FiMFiction again despite the fact that I've always had the box check marked to receive all emails.
I really ought to come up with a copypasta for every time knighty releases a site update. Something like...

In truth, I have never seen/gotten an email about a story update, so I have never used them. I just check my "read it later" sorted by updated to track my stuff.
So no reason for me to ask for them back.
2491084 As long as I have it so all my unread chapters for my favorited fics are easy to find, thats the most critical thing for me.

Yeah, I hope that stays easy to check. It's hard to find favorites that aren't unread now, though. You have to thumb through pages an' pages of stories. I like the idea of being able to organize things. I could remind myself to look stories over for some groups I'm admin in by giving them special bookshelves, too.
I like the bookshelf idea. Though I do want notifications back.

I like the notifications since I'm usually on the run and receiving emails alerts me to take a moment to read. But I do prefer this bookshelve idea as searching through pages and pages of stories is no fun and time consuming.
I would prefer to have individual emails, instead of a weekly one. What's the point of an email telling you a story has updated after you're read it?
