Once every several years, creatures from across the world gather together to watch a rare species of Equestrian butterfly begin its migration. For some, though, the event is more than just a spectacle.

It was that time again for Princess Celestia. A guard has gone, swept away in the breeze never to come back. A loyal guard, a good guard, whom Celestia will never be able to grace the visage of; the sun had set on him forever. She enters his room and begins to recollect brief flashes of him.

Cherry Berry and Cheerilee talk about whether or not to expect their youngest sister, Berry Punch to return to Ponyville after years of being absent without talking to them.

Before the sun sets on hers, she looks back on old memories, and the family she loves.

This story was written for the 2023 'A Thousand Words' contest in the Slice of Life category, and in tribute to my grandfather who passed some years ago.
