Princess Twilight Sparkle went to bed one ordinary Ponyville night.

She woke up in the barren desert of Saddle Arabia, with no idea how she got there.

Twilight Sparkle lost the war with the sun. But once she is saved from the brink of death, she is caught up in an entirely different war more ancient than the princesses themselves, and one where picking a side is not quite as easy as it seems...

It's good she'll have a friend.

Everypony enjoys myths and ponytales, even if they know such things aren't real. Alicorns fighting against a spirit of chaos? An ancient princess trapped in a library under a tree, waiting to be found? Quite enchanting and fantastic tales yes, but nonetheless as fictional as Daring Do and other such stories. At least, that's what Rarity used to think.

So what if she's eight and a half, and Dad says she can't go? That's a big age to reach, and he doesn't have to find out. So what if millennia-old dangers and secrets lurk in the darkness? That's the point of adventures.

She's got a saddlebag full of useful tools, countless stories telling her what ought to happen, and her Mom's old helmet. You don't need much more for your first adventure than that.

This is a story about a place where a mare will throw her self-worth out the window and get on her back to feed her family. Where a young stallion won't care about the difference between what's right or wrong if you give him the bits he needs to look after his kids.

This is a story about horrid, greedy ponies with too much power and not enough moral sense.

This is a story about Rainbow Dash. The mare who refused to pay for anything.

During a picnic, a mysterious portal appears out of nowhere in plain view of Twilight and the rest of the gang. Curiosity gets the better of them, so they decide to enter the gateway to another world and see what's on the other side.

After transporting them to this strange new world, the portal powers down inexplicably, trapping the Bearers of Harmony in a strange cube land with no way back.

How will they get home? What dangers will they face lurking around every corner?

More importantly, what does a lonely crafter have to say about all of this?
