Celestia sends Twilight a very special book that contains some of the oldest and most powerful magics known to ponykind. Included in the book is the way by which alicorns are created. Twilight visits her teacher in Canterlot to learn more, but gets much, much more than she bargained for.

I wasn't really sure what to tag this story. I chose the adventure tag because I see this story as an intellectual adventure for Twilight. Let me know if you think it should be something else and I'll change it.

The once fearsome King Sombra has had a rough life. Aside from his stint as tyrannical overlord of the Crystal Ponies, things just haven't been going his way: banished to shadow, getting blasted by the power of love, warped to another world entirely filled with talking mushrooms, and getting suplexed by a fat scaly idiot. To top it all off, his precious hand-me-down of a castle just got demolished.

Rebuilding an empire isn't easy, but luckily for Sombra, there's someone to lend a hand... or a claw, rather.

Discord, queen Chrysalis, and king Sombra leave their animated world in search of an eaiser conquest. But as they make the jump into the nearest universe, they accidentally activate a failsafe designed to prevent trans-dimensional joyrides. As the Particle Accerelation Reality Transfer comes online, it chooses a host. A human host.

The P.A.R.T. alone holds too much power for one being alone. And that's why it's not just a device.
It's sentient. And it has quite the personality.

Discord has been defeated, and Twilight and her friends are eager to get back into the swing of everyday life. Shortly after the end of the victory ceremony in Canterlot, Celestia asks a favour of Twilight, to put Discord back where he belongs, and the ever-faithful student accepts.

By noon of the next day, however, Twilight has both a startling revelation, and a terrible new secret to keep. Otherwise, the last thing she sees may in fact be the statue garden.

That being coincidentally is a human...that human coincidentally is you. What at first just seems like an opportunity for first contact between two species soon becomes something much more when certain truths are brought to light...and everything you knew about your life is flipped onto its head.
