After a thousand years, Luna finds herself finally freed from the form of Night Mare Moon - the ordeal has left her weakened, though, and she is ordered to spend the next year regaining her strength and getting herself up to speed on what has transpired during her thousand-year absence. Finding ways to spend that time? That... might be troublesome.

It's Nightmare Night, and Luna is visiting Ponyville again. The mayor tasks Twilight with guiding and helping Luna around Ponyville and making sure the Princess has a good stay. Though Luna comes to Ponyville with a proposition for Twilight.

Princess Luna, purged of the Nightmare the day before, has officially been welcomed back into power and into the alleged loving embrace of the populace. Though in quite a weakened state from the whole ordeal, she cannot seem to sleep anymore come the evening.

So, she decides to take a walk. She may very well find more than a mere cure for her sleeplessness.

Twilight has a question. One that has plagued her mind since her ascension and tonight, the stars are going to give her the courage to find her answer.

Twilight Sparkle is called away to tend to Luna when she falls ill. As Luna grows sicker and Twilight more determined to help the younger princess, she begins to uncover dark secrets about the elements, the alicorns, and her own past.

Luna has been redeemed by the elements of harmony, but is finding that salvation is harder to come by. Ponies avoid her, the memories of Nightmare Moon still fresh in their minds. Additionally, after a thousand years of solitude and silence, she’s having trouble adjusting to life in noisy, crowded, living Equestria.

Change never happens easily, and Luna struggles despite the help of her sister and new friends, failing as much as she succeeds.

Perhaps the Moon, her prison for so very long, is truly where Luna belongs after all.

Twilight Sparkle is awoken in the middle of the night by somepony pounding on the door to her library. Responding to the letter will take her on an adventure with an unexpected ally to help discover who her new friend really is.

Sonata has a bad nightmare and asks Aria if she can bunk with her since Adagio is no where to be found. Aria of course refuses, but gives in, leaving them in a very interesting position when Adagio comes back.

What happened during the 1000 years Luna was trapped on the moon? How did she survive all alone?

Upon the surface of the moon there is seldom light and no companion to be found. So as Celestia scrambles to undo the magic of the elements of harmony to return her sister Luna slowly finds herself walking down a path, her shadow as her only friend in the world.

1000 years is a very long time to be alone with your grief and your woes,

On the moon their is no glow
only a world of ice and snow

Queen Chrysallis died in the aftermath of that ruinous invasion of Canterlot. But Tartarus would not be my afterlife, and death not my reaper. No, Ponyville is to be my purgatory, and my socially-inept roommate, Moon-Butt, my rather overly-enthusiastic reaper. I now live on borrowed time at the whims of my layabout of a roommate. To earn my freedom I must be able to not only prove that a changeling can live as a pony but also earn affection as one. But in between trying to get used to the notion that friends aren't food and learning to join the flash mobs in song and dance, I find that there is more to being a pony than meets the eye.

That was the good news. The bad news? I swear by the Ancient Ones, this useless sloth I have to share a room with is simply using me as an excuse to be an incompetent freeloader away from her sister's watchful eyes. You know everything has gone hooves-up when I'm the voice of reason. But bills need to be paid, bits need to be earned, and I have to somehow save up enough to move out of this flat. For my sanity's sake.
