Rainbow Dash lives an exciting life and is swiftly becoming the most daring, awesome pegasus in all of Equestria. She would gladly give it all up, though, just to confess her love to Applejack.
"Hey, you remember when I flew through Ghastly Gorge blindfolded?" Listing Breeze said.
"Hmmm?" Rainbow turned to look at her. The mare squinted. "I remember you attempting it."
"Hey. I flew through Ghastly Gorge blindfolded and that's that!" Listing tilted her chin up. "Doesn't matter how successfully I did it."
"Uh... yeah it does."
"Not in my vocabulary."
"Listy..." Rainbow smirked. "You ricocheted off the jaws of two quarry eels and ripped five feathers off in the briar patch."
"Pffft... details."
"... ... ...before face-planting into pure granite about two canyon turns before the finish line."
"Yeah, well, at least I tried it!" Listing pouted, folding her forelimbs. "I like to see another pony even make such a claim!"
Rainbow Dash gazed across Los Alamules. She recalled how—months before meeting Twilight—she made it through Ghastly Gorge with her eyes closed. Three times. The awesomeness of the feat was deflated, though. She didn't have anypony to share it with. She had very little friends, for the most part, until Twilight came.
"Ghastly Gorge is overrated anyways," Rainbow said. "What's the point in conquering danger when you know where it all is?"
"Well, guess that's a good point," Listing remarked.
"Just staying alive is pretty difficult as it is," Rainbow said. "Staying alive and afloat."
"Ugh... are we both actually doing it, Rainbow?"
"Doing what?"
"Are we both actually growing up?"
Rainbow shrugged. "Gotta happen sometime, right?"
Listing squinted. "That wasn't always your attitude."
"I've changed in a lot of ways."
"Yeah. I can see that."
Rainbow sighed.
"But... d-don't get me wrong!" Listing cleared her throat. "Whatever floats your boat and stuff."
"Just seconds ago you were ribbing me on for being the same mare with the same wasted potential."
"Yes, well..." Listing fiddled with a patch of dirt in front of her. "Not every pony's the same judge that I am."
"I think that's the smartest thing you've said in the past two days."
"Thanks." Listing blinked. "I think...?"
"Don't mention it."
"Do you... uhm..." Listing fidgeted.
Rainbow looked over. "What?"
Listing's ears drooped. "Do... do you think that I've changed, booger?" She looked over, her face long.
Rainbow gazed back.
"Like... f-for the better?" Listing winced slightly.
Rainbow stared. After a sigh, she said, "Stop calling me 'booger,' and just maybe..."
"Heh..." Listing nodded. "Fair enough."
"It's... uhm..." Rainbow gulped. "It's a good thing, Listing."
"What is?"
"Just knowing that... like..." Rainbow fidgeted, shrugged, then blurted: "You're alive n'stuff. You're in one piece."
"Glad to know that somepony thinks so."
"There's... nopony else?" Rainbow asked.
"Huh?"
"Like... I dunno. All your friends can't be scumbags here in desert drug land, huh?"
"Heh... you do what you can to get by," Listing said. "Even if that includes passing everypony by."
Rainbow could only nod.
"Why? Anypony else with you? Especially of the cuddly variety?"
"Huh?"
Listing blinked. "Er... forget I asked that."
"Yeah..." Rainbow hugged herself. "I think I will."

Too friendly, she's being way to friendly <_< I'm watching you Listing
2 hours is a long time when you have to wait for it.
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas
Listing's quick to criticize Rainbow's life but she isn't doing too well herself.
You know, If we completely forgot about all the hints about Listing being worst pony all through this story, I'd actually really like her the way she's been shown so far.
But since that isn't the case, holy shit I just can't trust anything she says or does.
Listing is trying so hard. I guess she's been thinking about this moment for a long long time.
I went in hoping to like hating Listing, and instead I think I regular like her. She appears to have, like, a soul and stuff.
What if we're all being pessimistic, and Listing is actually a not so bad pony, just insecure about her own lack of friends so she just criticizes Rainbows abundance of friends?

To be honest, I don't have the slightest clue why everybody is so gung-ho on the "Listing is the most evil character and lets hope she is senselessly murdered and spends her afterlife with Shell" train. I mean, I get that she's been described poorly in the past, has a dangerous and reckless involvement in gangs and she keeps subtly attempting to drive a wedge between Dash and her friends and convince her that they weren't so bad together. Since when did that make you Pony Hitler? The last one comes off as unconscious to me regardless.
Let's review the facts, shall we? She lives in a broken trailer in the middle of fucking nowhere. She is completely alone, the only people who care if she's alive are those who would care to see that changed. She has nothing to her name. No friends. No family. No job. No home. No hope. Her life sucks. And she only has herself to blame. I wouldn't be surprised if all she has done for the last several years is ruminate on the past and haplessly attempt to convince herself that it isn't her fault things have come out this way. Enter Rainbow Dash, someone who actually cared about Listing once, and Listing seems to genuinely enjoy her company and the time they spent together before. Naturally, she's going to desperately try and make her stay. Naturally that isn't going to happen, but why is everybody going mental over her trying?
Bah, maybe I'm missing something in my contentment that there's finally someone who comes off as miserable, cynical, jaded and lonely in this story — hence someone I can actually relate to. Or maybe I'm trying too hard to see a sympathetic backstory because otherwise I'd be empathising with the horrible abusive witch everyone is making her out to be. Either way, I'm bewildered. Everybody was gushing about the Gilda redemption arc earlier in the story, y'know?
Listing! You can't say stuff like that! The smallest comment about her love life is enough to send her into depression for at least three chapters.
Hmm, JE is doing a pretty good job of making me question if Listing is really as bad as she has been portrayed. Listing does seem to be wanting to reconnect with Rainbow and do better. I want to believe that there could be hope for a bit of something here, as Rainbow could use somepony to help her get over AJ. Yet I am still very skeptical of her intentions, she just seems far too... good at saying what she needs to in order to convince Rainbow she's still worth it.
Heh, it's so odd going from the extreme saturation of content in today's Utaan chapters to the filler in this. Great job all around, of course, simply strange seeing the polar opposites.
7215826 I think a lot of the mistrust comes from how she was foreshadowed. There were hints that she was emotionally abusive and manipulative. The story is told from Rainbow's POV, so if Listing is trying to deceive her, and it's working, then it makes sense that she'd seem sympathetic to us as well. It would be completely story-consistent for Listing to drop her facade right after Rainbow started to trust her again.
On the other hand, Gilda got a reconciliation arc. So who knows.
I've decided one of two things will happen.
1) I'll continue to distrust her the entire arc only to find, lo and behold, she was actually, completely, truly a decent pony all along. Guilt and shame on my part for being so bigoted, so on and so forth.
OR
2) I will finally trust her, having seen a good pony through all the faults. I will cheer her on and hope she redeems herself in Rainbow's eyes and becomes a fixed character in the remainder of the story - only, lo and behold, I was right all along. My heart will be broken, my trust shattered and I will probably be kicking myself for losing my way - and as a consequence eye all remaining characters with inherent distrust.
So, in short, I have concluded the following will happen: pain.
One minute she's insulting her entire life, then she's sucking up to her.
