    Help Chicken decide something

If someone can come up with a decent reason why this site isn't completely full of irredeemable shitheads, I won't leave.

As it is, I find it's less and less "fanfiction site" and more and more "illustrated collection of obnoxious writing tropes and general persons of subaverage intelligence".

    A favor

So I created this beautiful piece of fanart in less than a minute in photoshop and I'd like to pass it along to the author on his fic, but alas!

He has blocked me, for some reason. Frankly, it doesn't surprise me, it's just that I think he really needs to see this uplifting, spiritual piece.

    Back by popular demand

By which I mean like fifteen people. In any event, I wrote another, and this time it's really fucking weird.

Seriously, this is a strange fic. Hold on to your asses.

Why does everyone like Sonata Dusk so much? · 2:27am Dec 31st, 2014

Seriously, why?

Every time. Every single goddamn time I read a fic, she's either good, good and shipped with someone else who's good, or at the very least not evil.

She's still a villain, guys. Goddamn news flash right there. Just because she's less obviously maniacally insane relative to the other two doesn't mean she's automatically a good guy. It just means, if anything, that she has the possibility to be an even more powerful villainous character. Am I the only one who sees the potential in the idea that she was the driving force behind the Dazzlings all along? Am I the only one who recognizes that the bad guys are generally bad?

I mean, there's no reason to think she's not as bad as Adagio is. Observe her in the movie. She never shows any sign of remorse, no trepidation, at the thought of mind-controlling a thousand-odd children to get what she wants. I don't know if that's just bad screenwriting, but it would seem to be pretty indicative of her state of mind about things. Sure, she's the dumb one, but since when was intelligence a requirement for being evil? Hell, what if the whole "realzies" thing is just a ploy, and she's behind everything? There's potential there.

Another thing: It's well established that they've been doing this "make the populace infatuated with us" thing for a very long time. Why aren't there any stories about the Dazzlings going to different places, in the past? Why hasn't anyone written a decent backstory for them, when there's so much potential given by the movie? Starswirl the Bearded was involved, guys. He's like the ultimate deus ex machina for character motivation, because that's how he was made, and everyone accepts that. But nobody had the thought, "Hey, what if he created the Dazzlings? Hell, what if he created the entire EG universe? What possibilities for storytelling could that provide?"

I can think of lots! Alternate dimensions are creatable by mortal menequines now! There's so much you can do with that! Why can't we do any better than Sonata-Sunset (Sunata? Sonset? Sundusk?) shipping?

I'm fine with people writing character their own way. But every Sonata Dusk story has her written the exact same way. Please, for the love of Christ, stop being so unoriginal and boring.

Saying the words on errybody's mind as always.

That Starswirl idea is...

Well, quite genius, actually. I didn't like the movie, but hey, I'd read that.

I didn't either. But you know what?

I don't like MLP that much either.

Why am I here? Because people can take these mediocre things that already exist, and turn them into something awesome. That's the whole point, and that's why people doing nothing with these incredible possibilities pisses me off so much.

And I know, get off my soapbox, because you haven't written anything either, Chicken. But if I can think of these ideas, why can't the actual good writers?

So much this.

But then, popularity is a fickle bitch, and twists many an author's hand. Thus, writing the same shit because people still read/upvote it. I mean, fuck, Lohav still has things being pushed out the tarnished anus that is that 'verse, so that's probably why nobody good is writing originality - they've already done that to get their followers and can thus please them with mindless bland shitfics that don't explore for shit.

I mean, I'm crap at worldbuilding. Absolute trash. But even I can make something a little different than the one everyone else is shitting out. It just takes thought and effort, which, sadly, popularity also cripples. Ah well. Just gonna have to pester the good writers with these ideas till their fingers vomit up the result.

Well, my prayers were answered, kinda.

Check out Ruminating. It's better than most.

Hey, man. I was actually a decent writer, until I got...you know...rhymes with "sand."

Nigga', don't be frontin'. You ain't never read none of what I wrote.

2700573
...sigh

I can't bullshit the bullshitter.

2700673

Exactly. You can't even read. So this is all a moot point to start with anyway.
