After Trixie dies, Starlight resorts to alcohol and shuts her self in Trixie’s wagon. When Twilight and the others have to go on a trip to save Equestria once again, Starlight wanders around the town drunk till a few ponies take her home and help her.

After being forced to do stand up because none of his friends and marefriend wanted to, they forced Spike on the stage. Spike has a huge stage fright phobia. Sure, he did the Hearths Warming Eve play script but that was easier because it was planned. And he wasn't being made fun of by the town for it. He decides to leave the town and make new friends, leaving Starlight in the process.

When Starlight agreed to move to Ponyville, she thought it would just be magic and all that. The two hit it off and Starlight confuses herself when she gets angrily defensive of the mare and her feelings she's never felt for anypony before.
