The second changeling attack failed miserably. It seemed like Chrysalis had lost everything. Her Hive, her children, her throne, her glorious plans, her hostages: all gone. Running away from Starlight Glimmer's offer of friendship, Chrysalis contemplates her next move: going to Equestria in disguise ... again.

But something lingers in Chrysalis's mind, a thought from a long time ago.

Twilight and Shining Armor are hired to help with a huge group project that involves drawing down an ice asteroid to Appleloosa to fill their reservoirs. But Queen Chrysalis, in another gamble to take over Equestria, intends to sabotage the attempt by bringing down the asteroid upon Celestia, Luna, and all of Appleloosa. However, Twilight and her brother get help from an unlikely ally: a changeling named Mirror who has unique shape-shifting abilities and whose loyalties are torn between her queen and her conscience.

Twilight has had a very eventful week: Fighting Tirek, getting her home blown up, defeating Tirek, and getting a nifty replacement home would already be pretty exciting on its own. But now she has been summoned to Canterlot by Celestia, who has some big news to tell her.

After long consideration and no small amount of pestering from Luna, Celestia is about to grant Twilight access to the files of the Equestrian Secret Service so that she and her friends can be better prepared for future threats to come.

What will Twilight learn in the depths of the archive? Surely nothing that could shake the very foundation of the friendships she so painstakingly built in her new home ...
