This story is a sequel to Rifts

In response to the unicorns and pegasi destroying the crops the earth ponies grow, the earth ponies run both tribes out of towns around Equestria. Ponyville is no exception to this except for one earth mare who refuses to give up her unicorn daughter.

(Takes place during Rifts. This is the earth pony POV, not a sequel.)

As a slightly alternative universe to the cannon, the cutie mark crusaders each earn their individual, nonlinking, cutie marks. And while they will always be friends forever, life is strenuous. Ponies get new jobs, some acquire fame, and some of them go off to start a fresh life with somepony else tugging on their heartstrings.

Not everypony is happy with the hoof life has given them, or the life given to the ones they care for. Will the cutie mark crusaders be able to handle the real world? Will family bonds be torn apart by betrayal?

From the outside, she seems to be a very lucky girl. She has a loving family, lots of friends at school, a comfortable home to call her own.

In her head, things are different. Trapped in her own mind, surrounded by the ruins of her life, the only survivor of the death of her soul. She has no family, no friends, no home, nothing.

And one enemy.

Ruby Pinch is not alone. Ruby Pinch is never alone.

Wind Sprints mom, Clear Sky, is going to meet her old friend, Berry Punch, also known as Ruby Pinch's mom. The two mothers also thought this a great opportunity for their daughters to make friends!

Problem is, these fillies don't want to make friends with each other. But sometimes, you are placed in a situation where you need to.

Moving into a new house is always tough. Leaving the environment you know, saying goodbye to the places you are familiar with, getting used to an entirely new living space that does feel nowhere near like home at the beginning..... Moving out from an abusive household, however, is a blessing.
Ruby Pinch had to leave her old home, for the sake of her safety and her sanity. But now that she sees the house she is supposed to live in from now on, doubts come over her. The history of the house and its look are opportunities for second-guessing and, suddenly, Ruby is not sure about living there anymore.
Her friend Dinky Hooves loves the house, though, and the history of it gives her all the more reason to move in together with Ruby Pinch. Her other friend, Liza Doolots, just wants that Ruby makes the best decision for herself.
Ruby Pinch can always rely on her friends. And together, nothing will stop them from having the best fillies' flat possible..... not even a scary, old witch.

And yet nopony knows it. The teachers tend to take her for granted, and nopony has ever inquired on the secrets of her success.
