After a night of scouring the Northern Districts, AKA the Crystal Empire, the girls return to the hotel for the night. However, when they see that Pinkie isn't there, they go on a search to the place she said she'd be at: the dance she was catering. But, when they get there, they not only find Pinkie, but their old chemistry professor, Mr.Sombra! Wait a second, are they hugging? And is that an engagement ring?!

I have no idea what happened. One second, I'm sitting at my desk, working. The next second, I'm Sombra. Or rather, I'm in his body. And nobody seems to believe me about it...

Years have passed since King Sombra was defeated, but the ruler of the shadows was risen from the ice mountains.
Now, he has a new plan, something that will surprise everypony.

I hate him and what he did to the Crystal Ponies is something I will never forgive. So why is it that I care when ponies scorn him? When they hurt him, why does it make me cry? When I see him, why does my heart skip?

Ignoring all of Hope's attempts to get him to forget about revenge, he sets off to the frozen wasteland before being summoned and met by none other than "Mother", the Queen of the shadows herself. Learning that he was no longer needed, Mother casts him aside and turned her attention to Equestria's newest and greatest enemy...
