Back inside Stable 4, I was destined for greatness. Outside, I was nothing more than a filly. At the same time, I also seemed to fit in very well into the horribly violent Equestrian wasteland, more than you would expect from somepony my age.

Wait, how old is Iron? I don't recall it being mentioned.

It's deliberately left vague. She's a pre-teen slash young teen. In human years, she could be anywhere from 10 to 15 (though the extremes would admittedly be hard to believe)

I actually wanna revisit that answer (mostly because I don't like unnecessarily dodging questions). While it's still true that she doesn't have a canonical age, I do tend to think of her as eleven when she leaves the stable, and twelve at the end the first arc.
Iron seems to be managing her Mintals better than Littlepip... for now. And she's found something to believe in... let's just hope she doesn't run into any zebras!
So we're shifting up the narrative a bit, with timeskips and a perspective switch. (Candy seems to make up for her "sister"'s lack of attraction - or is Banter just that handsome?

So how much older is Candy?

Yeah, I figured it would be easier to kick an addiction when you're used to the craving due to limited exposure.
Candy is four or five years older. So around sixteen or seventeen.
Tell me, Jajaja That's not mint, is it? jaja
mmm.. Arcane Spark???.... Just ignore me jaja
Chills!!! Iron??why? I don't know.
Heyyyy guess I was right about the stars having an effect.
I'm going to make another wild guess: Iron teleported out. Perhaps not with Lockpick...
again, a very interesting chapter, the perspective shift is interesting to know candy's thoughts but it's kinda frustrating to not know what iron is thinking
I'm going to guess that's an influence of the stars
