Not-so-Little Trouble in Big Sky

Feathercoast. The Pegalysium Gallery. Second Wind's office.

There, Second Wind, the current leader and Grand Judge of the Indigo Alliance sat at her office. Not too bothered by anything. She was actually feeling like the luckiest pony alive right now. Having access to Rift Magic and having Jade Skies. The biggest source of Rift Magic she and her alliance could ask for.

The rest of the Indigo Alliance Members had now obtained a semblance of Rift Magic due to Jade Skies. However, Second Wind held the most due to her status among them all. She whistled in her room, hoping for her massive dreams to come true. Until one of the nobles, aka an alliance member entered.

"Grand Judge." He whispered.

"Please. Call me Second Wind in here. I expect good news from your arrival?"

"Well...n-not really. Jade Skies' friends did indeed make it here. And...I was unable to get rid of them." He lowered his head which disappointed Second Wind.

"Even with the Rift Magic I gave you, how were you unable to get rid of them?" She sat up.

"Apologies. Controlling so much powerful magic is still difficult to handle. Especially when using it on the wind and islands. Besides, they were saved by these two odd Pokemon. A Dragon and some bird crea-"

"I don't care how they were saved. The point is that we're supposed to remove any chance of Jade Skies being rescued. Those Pokemon are incredibly powerful from all the chatter and gossip going across the town. And from what Kaleidoscope receives from her History Buddy. One mistake and that's it. They could bring us down faster than we can imagine."

"Y-Yes. I understand."

"We can still get them out of the way. They want the girl. All we need to do is keep them away from Jade Skies and remove them all from the picture. Get in touch with everypony about their arrival. Do whatever you can. Understood?"

"Yes, Grand- Um...Ms Second Wind!"

Pegalysium. Uprear Borough. Day.

Uprear Borough. The fourth-largest city in Pegalysium with the capital being number one, Big Sky being number two and the third a mystery for now. It was certainly close to a sprawling metropolis. The layout of this city was identical to two wings. It was more of a port city with many hangars, docks and waterways. Those same boats that are capable of riding on the sea cloud could be found there.

Right now, one group had entered here. That being Ash's group. Ash himself was undercover in his pony form also known as Aura Ash for the first time. He had Discord to thank for that. And he also had Discord to think for giving him this form last year. His group consisted of Shooting Star, Twilight, Starlight and Fluttershy.

Thanks to Cold Colt's magical improvement he made most of his friends blend in as pegasi. Ash, Twilight and Starlight had their horns hidden while those without wings were giving fake ones that were controlled via Cold's levitation. He truly had improved since his first arrival.

By arriving at Uprear Borough, they had blended in perfectly as just ordinary pegasi. Albeit ones without coloured tips on their wings.

"Okay. The others might find Jade before we do. But let's ask questions." Shooting Star instructed. "I mean, I'm the prince so they've gotta answer, right?"

"I mean...sure." Twilight shrugged. "But if it's this -secret society, would anyone want to answer?"

"Unless they're a part of it." Starlight said. "Plus, since you're here, Shooting Star, they might get cautious. They did capture you, remember?"

"Oh yeah. Good point. I'll stick out like a sore-hoof. Not just because I'm the prince."

"Let's get started then," Ash said as he went ahead of his friends, going for the first pegasus he saw. Twilight and the others did the same, scattering for questions.

It was a shame they didn't have time to stick around and experience this city for themselves. They were prioritizing their friend above anything else. But they were already planning on experiencing this city once they save Jade and maybe put an end to the Indigo Alliance.

"So do you know anything about an Indigo Alliance of any sorts and where they could be?" Twilight asked.

"Indigo Alliance? There's no location for a foal's tale at all." A pegasus shook her head as Twilight frowned. She expected that to be the most typical answer. Dismissing the secret society as just a story.

"Nothing?" Starlight spoke to one of the pegasi who already gave his response. "Not even a bit...?"

"Don't go chasing myths. Especially when you won't find it at all." The pegasus walked off, leaving Starlight disappointed.

"Hmmrgh..." The unicorn grumbled. But as she didn't get an answer, Hatterene's Poke Ball was suddenly shaking. She had an idea of her own. And Starlight knew what that idea was.

"Hatt...!" Hatterene's voice echoed from the Poke Ball as she was ready to burst out and use Hypnosis on everyone, forcing them to give out the location.

"Hatterene, no!" Starlight exclaimed, shutting the Silent Pokemon down. "Not everything needs to be done with mind control...At least not yet."

Prince Shooting Star had many ponies surround him. Of course, since he was royalty, this was to be expected. He asked questions about the alliance and Jade but was only met with constant fan praising. It was hard to get an answer when everyone is only admiring. Some just didn't have an answer at all.

"Eeugh...This is tough. Uh, can anypony say something about their whereabouts?" Shooting Star requested but received no proper answer.

As for Ash and Fluttershy, they had yet to ask somepony a question. Mostly because of the four individuals next to them. Pikachu, Audino, Chikorita and Scorbunny. The pegasi nearby had locked their eyes onto the Pokemon. And why wouldn't they? They were creatures that they had never seen before. Way past the animals they naturally have up here.

"Oh! What is that thing?!" A pegasus gasped, pointing his hoof over at Pikachu as everyone gawked.

"I think those are the Pokemon creatures the King and Queen mentioned!" One pegasus brought up Paramount and Luminary. Indeed, the name Pokemon has been going around ever since King Paramount made them known to Pegalysium. At least they knew of the species.

"Pikachu?"

Immediately, Ash and Fluttershy were surrounded by pegasi. Mostly the foals, teenagers and a few mares and stallions. How can they resist these magical creatures that were standing before them? It was mostly Audino who made everyone aware due to her size.

"Should've seen this coming, huh?" Ash rubbed the back of his hair while Fluttershy nodded in agreement. "Looks like you all know about Pokemon already. I can teach you all later about them, but Fluttershy and I've got a question."

"What's that?"

"Do any of you know where the Indigo Alliance is?"

And right after that, their attention had been shifted away from the Pokemon. They started chatting and gossiping about the Indigo Alliance. They weren't being secretive at all. However, they all wondered why Ash would mention what was deemed as a myth.

But as they chattered, a group of pegasi inside of the ships heard this conversation. Mainly those within the more fancy and pristine ships. These ships belonged to some nobility. And the ponies hearing this were nobles. They then started chatting amongst each other.

"Them...I thought they had been dealt with today?"

"That doesn't seem to be the case. Considering their young, they're obviously persistent and stubborn. The worst kind of youth."

"What do we do? They aren't going to stop until they get her back."

"Simple. We just draw their attention away and get rid of them ourselves..."

"Sorry. But that's just a foal's tale. Didn't you know?" A pegasus shook her head.

"We've heard of that," Fluttershy spoke. "But they took our friend. And we really want her back."

"Wait, so they're real?" A colt said to his parent, only to be met with a shrug.

"Totally!" Ash nodded. "I mean...I guess you guys haven't seen them and everything so..."

"I don't want to get snatched up too!" A foal exclaimed as the younger ponies were obviously afraid of the Indigo Alliance. The story of the Indigo Alliance is framed as a bedtime horror story meant to put children to sleep early. And it is effective.

"Hold on, hold on. What's this now?" Interrupting the conversation was one of the pegasi from the nobility. Joining her were other nobles. She made an appearance as everyone split up to make way for her. "Are we having a chat about this secret society?"

"Oh yeah!" Ash replied. "So you know about them! Do you know where they are? We need to find our friend as soon as we can."

"Pika-Pika?"

"Can't say we do." The nobles shrugged. "But...Is the pony you're looking for of the jade colour?"

"Yeah! That's her! Her name's also Jade Skies!" Ash and Fluttershy shot up, nodding aggressively. "Have you seen here before?!"

"Well, that may be the pegasus you are looking for. I saw her in the middle of the night." She flipped her mane. "Not sure what that was all about. But I did see her head west. She could be somewhere else."

"West, huh?! Okay! We know where we need to go! Guys!" Ash cried out for the others. Twilight and Shooting Star immediately turned to face them. "We've got something! Let's head west!"

"Oh! Really?!" Twilight squeed before flying over. Shooting Star quickly moved away from the crowd surrounding him to head for his friends.

West it was. At least, those were the words of the mare. In truth, Jade's location was at the centre of Pegalysium. Which would technically be north. Even with the continuous movements of the clouds, the centre of Pegalysium remains either way.

The mare and to an extent other nobles that had informed Ash and the others about Jade's false location were in fact members of the Indigo Alliance. Similarly, the same ponies within the Indigo Alliance all seemed to be nobles, which held up Second Wind's comment about the Indigo Alliance and its legacy.

The noble mare watched Ash and the others take off with a devious smile on her face. The nobles then left to their ships afterwards.

Big Sky. Day.

Near Big Sky, the second-largest city in Pegalysium and a place identical to Las Pegasus, Rarity, Cold Colt, Spike and Emerald Aura had ended up here after that sudden change of directions.

They ended up on the outskirts of Big Sky from the direction they were launched at. Thankfully, they were saved via Spike's Salamence catching them all.

"Great. Just when we were all together...this happens." Cold Colt groaned before sitting up, observing his surroundings. "Where are we?"

"Somewhere amazing! Look!" Rarity exclaimed, pointing her hoof ahead. There, they had seen Big Sky for themselves. In all of its fantastical glory. Cold, Spike and their Pokemon also gawked at this sight.

It was truly a wonderful place to look at. Not only were there casinos but there was also a wide variety of shops, cafés, and restaurants are spread throughout the entire city and are popular with both tourists and locals alike. The outer portion of the city was lined by tall buildings and wide brick and cobblestone boulevards, while the avenues of the inner portion are lined by smaller buildings.

There's a reason this was the second-largest city in Pegalysium and a famous place for any casino lovers. It was a sight to behold. Even Emerald Aura, who didn't care too much about the locations, couldn't help but be amazed by this.

"Wow." The Rift Pony said.

"Wow is right..." Rarity nodded as she could only imagine the possibilities for her in Big Sky. Her eyes shined with a wide smile also forming. However, she shook her head, remembering the task at hand. "No! No time for gawking and dreaming! Jade is waiting for us!"

"Yeah. Let's get going." Emerald walked past them. "Plus, I kinda figured that someone with Rift Magic repeated us

"Really?" Spike asked.

"Yeah. We Rift Creations can sense when someone else is using Rift Magic. And whoever used it on the wind and jungle clearly doesn't want us to reach Jade at all. They were probably drawn in by Cold Colt using his magic to disguise you all as pegasi."

"Gee that makes things tougher." Spike sighed. "So, what now?"

"Cold and I shouldn't use too much Rift Magic. That'll just draw more problems for us in the end. Got it, squirt?"

"Yeah, I got it." Cold nodded before thinking for a moment. "But wait. What if the pony who used it was one of the Indigo Alliance Members? If we use Rift Magic again, maybe we can draw them here and interrogate them. Eh?"

"Ooh...Good thinking! Looks like it's not just your magic that's improved." Emerald complimented the younger Rift Pony, causing Cold to be embarrassed and put on a proud smile too. He tends to do that a lot when being complimented and praised for his achievements. "Okay...What do we do?"

"Something big!" Cold Colt spread his hooves out. "Oh...maybe not too big."

"I got it." Spike slid in. "How about I just make Axew transform into Haxorus again? He's got Rift Energy in him too, remember?"

"Oh yeah." Cold turned to Spike and then Axew. "That could work. Axew always lets out like a bunch of Rift Energy when he transforms, Emerald. Let's have him do that!"

"Sounds like a sure-fire way to drag them out. Okay. Go for it." Emerald was all for it.

"You head them, Axew. Transform!"

"Axew!" Axew nodded as he stood firm on the ground. He wanted to make this his biggest transformation yet. So big that the Rift Energy would probably be oozing out of him. The Tusk Pokemon closed his eyes, allowing all of the cosmic energies to flow within his body.

"Xew...Axew!" He then yelled as his body was engulfed in a radiant golden light. Spike and the others backed away, witnessing this transformation take place.

The golden pillar of Rift Energy erupted, expanding in size. The width of it forced everyone else even further back as the length was skyrocketing, piercing through some nearby clouds. Axew was changing shape as well.

After the light grew, the pegasi over at Big Sky couldn't ignore this. Their eyes were alerted to this radiant light as they wondered what it could be. Some even stopped what they were currently doing for this.

And the Rift energy emanating from Axew was outstanding. Emerald Aura and Cold Colt could definitely feel it. Their Rift Magic reacted to Haxorus' outburst.

"Ax...Ax...Axorus!" And bursting out of the pillar of golden energy with a mighty figure and pulsating power was Equestrian Haxorus in all his glory. "Haxorus!"

"Oh yeah. I felt that one..." Emerald nodded as Cold felt woozy from that. "Since they're newbies to Rift energy, I bet that gave them a scare. The less experienced they are, the more it'll be felt. Right squirt?"

"Good thing I'm advanced..." Cold trembled before regaining his balance. Haxorus them deformed, returning as Axew to keep a low profile around all pegasi.

"Well, they certainly reacted to it." Rarity looked over at the nearby pegasi who had witnessed Axew's transformation. Some of them walked off, continuing with their day while others were very curious.

However, the most curious was seven ponies who were watching through the window via one of the tall buildings. They had witnessed not just Axew's transformation, but also the ponies around them. Familiar in appearance. Just as how Secon Wind described them. These were also Indigo Alliance Members.

They had their targeted ponies within their sights. The three ponies looked at each other, knowing what needed to be done about Rarity's group. They promptly paused their poker game for this. After gazing at the group, they decided to use Rift Magic.

After all, Second Wind did say to get rid of them in whatever way they can. Which almost meant by all means. They came together, thinking of how to use the Rift Magic for this. They left the casino to deal with the group afterwards.

Rarity and the others had entered Big Sky for the first time. No time to wander off and gawk at the view of it. Their friend was the top priority. Spike couldn't help but notice how all eyes were on him and Axew. They were the ones that stuck out the most. Cold, Emerald and Rarity fit in due to Cold disguising them as pegasi.

Spike and Axew just tried to stay as silent as they could be whilst walking with their friends. Big Sky was certainly loud with a multitude of events ongoing everywhere. While it was morning, it certainly shines best at night. Figuratively and literally. Everything about it was so fantastical. Rarity and the others were thinking of enjoying themselves here right after they save Jade and get her home that is.

Just like Ash's group, they stopped by to ask questions about the Indigo Alliance. And just like before, many either had no clue or dismissed it as a myth. Even entering the casinos was a bust. Or both. However, Emerald Aura had a solution to this.

"You," Emerald spoke to a nearby pegasus, using her Rift Magic on him. The pegasus froze in place as his eyes started glowing the same colour as Emerald's magic. He was intimidated by Emerald's stare as he had no idea what was going on. He started flailing his hooves randomly. "Where's the Indigo Alliance and their hideout? Talk. Tell me everything you know."

She used the power of her Rift Magic to try and force the truth out of the pegasus. It seemed like the easier option despite her methods. However, the answer she received was unpredictable as the pegasus blurted out something that everypony heard.

"I secretly dress up as Queen Luminary sometimes! It makes me feel powerful!" He exclaimed as everyone's eyes shot over to him. Emerald scrunched her face before lowering the pegasus.

"Oh. Uh...Good for you, I guess? He's not a part of them." Emerald sighed as the pegasus walked away sheepishly, feeling embarrassed after letting out a secret of his. "Sorry!"

"Emerald. You don't have to be so forceful like that?" Cold Colt went up to Emerald.

"I'm only doing it so that we can get to Jade as soon as we can. Whoever caught Jade also has Rift Magic on their side because I can't reach her at all. Or maybe they're using something else?" Emerald used her magic to try and head towards Jade or at least bring her here. But, there was no success to it.

"We understand but try not to make a scene." Rarity suggested. "We have no idea what this place has in store for us. After all, if there is an Indigo Alliance Member somewhere here, then...I'm not sure what they would do. Prince Shooting Star did say they were dangerous though."

"Yeah, yeah, I get it." Emerald shifted her eyes away from Rarity.

"Xew...?" Axew then felt something due to his draconic senses. His ear twitched as he knew something was off. He felt it coming from the left. Right through one of the windows of the casino, a small but fast and strong ray of Rift Magic phased through without causing any damage.

And this ray was aimed straight at Rarity. Axew acted fast as he transformed into Haxorus in a flash, getting in front of Rarity. "Xorus!" The Axe Jaw Pokemon then put his arms out, acting as a shield for Rarity.

He ended up taking the ray of Rift Magic himself. And to his surprise, not even his hard armoured body could fully withstand it as the ray struck his chest. Haxorus' eye widened as he not only staggered from receiving a powerful hit but he had also been poisoned.

"Haxorus!" Spike gasped as Rarity backed away. Everyone gasped after seeing Haxorus' transformation.

"H-Hax...!" Haxorus growled as he almost fell on his back. He managed to regain his balance, however, the Dragon-Type started breathing in and out due to the poison. The goal was to try and poison Rarity with an unseeable and swift ray. But it had struck someone else.

Cold Colt and Rarity had looked over to see the ponies that had done this. They had also spotted Spike before they rushed off after being caught. Haxorus got on his knee with Spike tending to him. He took out an Antidote in his bag for this solution.

"There are some suspects!" Rarity cried out as she instantly pursued the seven pegasi. Haxorus' poison wound had been sprayed by the Antidote. Haxorus' potentially lethal injury had been wiped away like that.

"Xorus..."

"You okay, pal?" Spike asked.

"H-Hax." Even after being healed from the poison, the staggering effect of the ray still had Haxorus a bit uneasy. But he would manage as he stood up tall for Spike and everyone's sake. "Haxorus!"

"Awesome!" Spike hopped onto Haxorus' back. "Now let's get those guys!"

"Haxo!" Haxorus roared before running off and carrying Spike. Emerald Aura quickly chased after them as all. They now had suspects within their sights. Anyone attempting to take them out specifically would obviously be a part of the Indigo Alliance.

Rarity had the seven ponies in sight after reaching the second floor that they were on. The ponies looked behind to see Rarity chasing after them with a determined face. That's when they realized that they easily outnumber her.

"Hey wait a minute. Why are we running from her? Get her!" A pegasus stopped, ordering an attack on Rarity. And once more, they used the Rift Magic instead of their own magic.

The use of the Rift Magic this time had formed a large wall of steel with the intent to fall and crush Rarity. The wall took up most of the room with its size as it started falling.

"Pheromosa, go!" Rarity had an answer to this. By throwing the Poke Ball with her magic, out came the Lissome Pokemon, Pheromosa.

"Pheromosa!" Once she emerged, Pheromosa kicked the steel wall into millions of pieces with just a single hit. The ponies gasped to see such sheer strength come from this tall and bizarre-looking creature. Pheromosa kicked away some of the metal shards away from Rarity once they started falling.

"That's some strength..." One pegasus gasped.

"Yeah...But can she deal with the strongest metal we have? I bet they can't break through Dynasite!" Another pegasus grinned as he had one more trick to try. By using the Rift Magic, he ended up summoning what was the strongest metal in all of Pegalysium. And this time, it was in the form of long cylinders.

This material known as Dynasite had a somewhat transparent, mirrorlike substance that was teal. This mystical material had a slick texture in solid form. Their own unique metal that seemingly exists in just Pegalysium. The Dynasite cylinders were sent flying towards Pheromosa at high speed.

"Triple Kick!" Rarity commanded.

"Pheromo!" After kicking the last shard away, Pheromosa went on to attack the incoming cylinders with a series of just three kicks. However, once she threw the first kick on the first cylinder, it did not break at all. Not only that, but Pheromosa winced as she did not expect to feel sudden pain from making contact with this material. "Mo?!"

Pheromosa cried out as she managed to kick away the first cylinder, but barely. It had injured her foot. Due to this injury, she had been hit by the other cylinders. And that wasn't good for her fragile and supple body. "Phero!"

"Pheromosa!" Rarity gasped as her partner had been knocked back. The cylinders dropped to the floor, causing a loud sound and shaking the floor. Pheromosa had gone flying through the window, falling to the first floor afterwards.

She fell onto a pool table as everypony started wondering what was going on. Panic was starting to build up. It started with Haxorus and now Pheromosa.

After seeing how not even Pheromosa's amazing strength could shatter the Dynasite, the obvious solution was just to constantly use that form of metal. And so it was. Another Dynasite cylinder was thrown towards Rarity to try and crush her.

Rarity gasped as she tried using her magic to hold the metal. But it was too heavy for her to hold. Luckily, she wouldn't have to fret. Along came Haxorus, acting as a shield once more.

"Hax!" Haxorus roared before grabbing the Dynasite cylinder. Upon grabbing it, he slid on the floor, surprised by its amazing weight. Haxous staggered as his hard armoured body was able to withstand the metal. But it was still potent. "X-Xo...!"

The pegasi saw how resilient the group was being as Cold and Emerald were making their way here. To try and end them quickly, they used the wall trick once more. But this time, not only with Dynasite but also with multiple layers of them. Multiple walls of Dynasite were stacked together in a straight line before being tipped over.

"Haxo?!"

"Oh!" Cold gasped as he came to a screeching halt in front of this odd material. Haxorus looked up to try and hold the walls in place by using all of his strength. Rarity hid behind Haxorus for safety as the walls came tumbling down. Emerald showed up and right as she did, the walls were already close.

"Haxorus!" Haxorus held the first wall of Dynasite with his arms up. But then, along came the second one, landing on the first wall, adding a layer. This added to the weight, forcing Haxorus to put more muscle into it. Emerald Aura saw the third layer fall with Haxorus' knee dropping to the floor. "X-Xo!"

"No way you're holding all of those together!" Emerald exclaimed as she was ready to use her Rift Magic to deal with this material. With her horn glowing, the pegasi felt the Rift energy within them react. That was a sign that Emerald Aura was also a Rift Pony.

"She's one as well!"

"Two won't hurt. The Grand Judge will love this!" One pegasus saw an easy opportunity to have two Rift Ponies. He used his Rift Magic, shooting out a stream of what seemed to be sleeping smoke. It was just as wide as the Dynasite walls too.

"Huh?" Emerald noticed the arrival of the sleeping smoke coming this way. Her focus on the wall had been dropped with shock and realization coming to her face. But before she could react. Along came Cold Colt, doing what Haxorus did and using himself as a shield.

Not only did he protect Emerald, but he also used his Rift Magic to create a wind pressure, blowing away the smoke. However, this sudden attack of smoke gave the Dynasite wall all the time in the world to fall. Every last layer. Haxorus' knees were all down as each of the walls broke the floor apart.

Haxorus and everyone fell while he kept holding the walls. Despite the multiple layers, Haxorus would not let go just for the safety of his friends. As the second floor shattered, panic ensued as everyone on the first floor started running and flying for their lives. This one casino room was coming down on them.

Pheromosa looked up to see everything falling as well. She saw everyone was in danger and wouldn't be able to leave the casino in time with this destruction coming their way.

"Phero!" To save everyone, Pheromosa used her amazing speed to her advantage. The Indigo Alliance Members looked down as they quickly flew off. They felt like their job was done. And the last thing they saw was the massive layers of Dynasite walls crashing down onto the first floor, covering it entirely.

"That should it. That's a few of them out of the picture." A member said.

"Wait till the Grand Judge hears about this tonight." They truly felt like the job had been done. Nothing could be seen on the first floor since the Dynasite walls were in the way. They had essentially replaced the first floor.

The Indigo Alliance truly show little remorse for safety and harming others just to have a job done. And with Rift Magic, the dangers they bring are even greater than before as seen by this damaged casino. The rescue of Jade Skie was just beginning as the journey continues.
