Double Battle

Author's Note:

This chapter has the most battles in it so far.

The Pokemon House.

"It's time I taught you about Double Battles, Rainbow." Ash said.

"Double Battles?"

"Mhm! At times they're more fun that just solo 1 on 1 battles. They can help develop the bond between both of your Pokemon. So they work better as a team, ya know."

"Pikachu!"

"Oh, that does sound kinda fun actually."

"And to get us started. I invited Hollow over to help me."

"Glad I could help. The kids can watch this go down as well." Hollow replied as he had bought over the young foals from Canterlot.

"Hope you're watching too CMC?"

"Of course! We wouldn't miss this at all!" The three of them said.

"Show us something awesome!" Scootaloo yelled.

"Yeah what she said!" Sunrise Sprint replied.

"We will. Fluttershy. Would it be okay if we had a double battle with some of the Pokemon here?" Ash asked.

"I won't mind. I'll them up later." She was okay with this.

"Great. Hey, Sandslash, Simipour. Wanna help us?" Ash asked the two Pokemon.

"Sand!"

"Simi..."

"They said they would love to." Fluttershy translated.

"Awesome. Then Gengar. I choose you!" Ash sent out his Gengar.

"Gen...Gar!" Gengar's appearance still freaked out the others a bit.

"I'll go with you Bagon." Hollow had sent out one of his own, Bagon.

"Ooh. What is THAT?" Rainbow Dash pulled out the dex.

"Bagon. The Rock Head Pokemon. Frustrated by its lack of wings, Bagon goes around smashing things with its rocky head. Its single-minded pursuit of flight appears to be genetically motivated."

"I see. Wait, that thing's a Dragon-Type?" Rainbow said.

"You all ready?" Brock asked, being the referee as always.

"Ready!" Both Ash and Hollow said.

"Sandslash!"

"Simipour."

"In that case. Battle Start!"

"Let's start off strong! Bagon! Dragon Claw!"

"Gengar! Ice Punch!" Both Pokemon floated and ran towards the opposing side. Simipour had protected it and Sandlash with Aqua Ring, enveloping them both in a veil of water. Sandslash had moved in, meeting both of their attacks with its own by using Fury Swipes. It was pushed back by the overwhelming force of the two. Simipour pitched in by using Scald of Gengar.

"Gen!" Gengar was sent back, but he shrugged it off easily.

"Gengar! Shadow Ball!" Gengar retaliated by throwing a Shadow Ball at Simipour, knocking it back. Sandslash used Dig to move under the ground.

"Keep a lookout for Sandslash, Bagon!"

"Bagon..." Sandslash was rapidly moving around in the earth, ready to strike at any time. Hollow could see the dirt being kicked up dig. "There! Dragon Breath!" Bagon charged up a flame hotter than fire as it unleashed Dragon Breath on the ground. This heat reached Sandslash as it could take it, coming out of the ground. "Now! Dragon Claw!" Bagon then hit Sandslash in its belly, sending it flying into a pile of leaves.

The Aqua Ring had healed Sandslash, preventing it from fully going down. Simipour had gone up to Gengar, using tickle on him.

"Gen? G-G-Gen!" Gengar was laughing as he was getting overwhelmed by the tickling.

"Oh geez! Gengar! Use your intangibility." Gengar did just. Using its Ghostly prowess the tickle phased through him. "Now! Night Shade!" Gengar caused a mirage in front of Simipour as a black and purple bolt of shadows hit Simipour, knocking it out. It was up to Sandslash now. The Mouse Pokemon had curled up into a ball, using Rollout.

"Look out!" Hollow shouted. Sandslash was moving at pretty quick speeds as it was hitting the two of them on the way. Its sharp spikes are an effective weapon next to its claws.

"That Sandslash is moving pretty fast. It's all over the place."

"What do we do then, Ash?"

"I got it! We'll mix up moves! Gengar! Use Psychic to carry Bagon!" A crazy command but Gengar went with it.

"Huh?! I thought you two were supposed to be on the same team!" Rainbow was confused.

"Oh, I get it. Bagon! Dragon Claw!" Hollow knew what Ash was going for. Gengar led Bagon to Sandslash, making it move faster thanks to Psychic. Bagon had come in contact with Sandslash, swiping a green claw of draconic energy onto Sandslash. The brittle spikes on Sandslash broke as an impact occurred, causing a small smoke cloud. Sandslash had fainted from the attack.

"Both Simipour and Sandslash are unable to battle! So the winners are Gengar and Bagon! Along with Ash and Hollow!" Brock declared.

"Yes!" Ash and Hollow high fived each other over their victory.

"That was just as fun as a single battle! You were right, Ash!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed.

"I wanted it to be longer though..." Sunrise said, wanting more.

"That's an example of double battles. They're even more fun when it's four trainers involved." Hollow said.

"We wanna do double battles too!" Scootaloo yelled.

"Mhm! Four of us can be in!" Apple Bloom followed.

"The children seem very eager. It would be nice if you let them try, don't you think?"

"Right you are, Fluttershy. It'll be great to advance their Pokemon battle experience at such a young age." Hollow replied.

"Then how about this! Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, how about you two team up."

"Woohoo! Thanks Ash!"

"And uhh... what's your name again?" Ash couldn't remember Sunrise's name.

"It's Sunrise Sprint."

"Right, right! You can team up with Rainbow Dash."

"No way, Ash." Rainbow Dash declined. Surprisingly she wasn't up for this.

"Why not?"

"Pika?"

"I'm a bit too experienced for these kids. I'd totally beat them in a few seconds and it wouldn't be fair for the other team, ya know." Dashie explained. Ash shrugged his shoulders, going along with her reason.

"Then who'd like to be Sunrise's partner?"

"Come on. Anypony wanna tag with me?" The young ones were a bit nervous around Sunrise. He was a brash unicorn who was very rough and tumble. So he wasn't exactly the number one pony to be friends with unless you enjoy that kind of personality "Seriously? What are you all, chicken?"

"I'll team up with you." There was only one pony who wasn't nervous to be around Sunrise. The only pony who can actually keep an eye on his rough personality. A young blue filly unicorn by the name of Sapphire Flash. "Since you're kind of a lost cause." She taunted.

"Who you calling lost cause?!" Sunrise retorted. They usually argued like this. Sapphire would always say the right thing to get under his skin.

"Alright, you two. Since you both have... interesting chemistry, you two will team up." Hollow decided to let these two be a team since they are the most rambunctious of his class. "Hope your Pokemon are ready."

"I and my Petilil are ready, Mr Hollow." She replied.

"Well, my Timburr is more than ready! Always!" Sunrise replied.

Both sides bought out their Pokemon. Scootaloo her Ponyta and Apple Bloom one of the Applins from Sweet Apple Acres. Sunrise and his Timburr, Sapphire and her Petilil.

"Ready?" Brock asked.

"Ready!" All four of them said.

"Battle Start!"

"Watch a real trainer at work, Sapphire. Timburr! Hammer Arm!" Timburr raised up its huge wooden beam that it always carries with it. It ran forward, ready to slam it down.

"Oh. Ponyta. Flame Charge!" Scootaloo wasn't too bothered as Ponyta charged into Timburr with flames surrounded around it. Timburr was knocked back with its wooden beam hitting its head.

"Nice start," Sapphire smirked. "We'll try this my way. Petilil. Use Sleep Powder." Sapphire went for a more technical approach. Instead of getting all physical, she made Petili shoot out a drowsy sleeping powder that sprinkled onto Ponyta. The Fire Horse Pokemon had fallen asleep due to this.

"Huh?!" This was new to Scootaloo. She didn't know of status moves. Neither did Rainbow Dash. This was her first time seeing one.

"You put it to sleep?!" Sunrise exclaimed.

"Mhm. I'm more of a strategy girl, you know." She said with pride.

"Oh come on, Ponyta! Wake up!" Scootaloo yelled trying to wake her Pokemon up. "Apple Bloom! Do something!"

"Oh! Right! Applin! Dragon Breath!" Apple Bloom commanded. Sunrise and Sapphire turned their heads to that. It knew a move that strong? Applin unleashed a blue fire that missed the two Pokemon by their small little grass hair and skin.

Sunrise was quaking after seeing that.

"We got super lucky. We won't let that hit us next time! Quick Petilil! Use Sleep Powder on Applin as well!"

"I don't think so! Applin! Tackle!" Applin rolled towards Petili, tacking it before it could unleash the Sleep Powder. Sunrise shook his head, snapping out of the Dragon Breath.

"Timburr! Hit Ponyta with a Hammer Arm!" Timburr rushed in, hitting its beam on Ponyta's head.

"Come on! You gotta wake up Ponyta!" Scootaloo pleaded. What she didn't know is that sometimes, Pokemon moves can wake Ponyta up, but not for a while.

"Keep hitting it!" Timburr kept swinging its beam, constantly striking Ponyta. That amount of hits had caused it to wake up as it retaliated with a buck to the face, making Timburr rollback.

"Yes! You're awake!"

"Pony!"

"I know how dangerous that Petili is now. It's cute but that Sleep Powder is no joke. Quick! Flame Charge!" Ponyta rushed in, ready to hit Petilil.

"Petilil quick! Stun Spore!" By an inch, Petili had stunned Ponyta with a spore. The flames grazed Petili, dealing tiny damage to it. "Phew."

"Oh come on!" Scootaloo yelled. She was starting to get annoyed with these status moves. "Ponyta! Power through it!"

"Like I'd let you. Petilil! Energy Ball!" Sapphire's Petilil had one attacking move. Energy Ball. It hit Ponyta face first, but not that much damage was dealt to it.

"Timburr! Swing your beam around like crazy!" Sunrise yelled. Timburr swung his beam around, moving like a whirlwind. He struck both Ponyta and Applin, knocking them back. "Awesome job!"

"Don't worry Scootaloo. Applin here can finish this in one go. Dra-"

"Sleep Powder!" Sapphire cut her off, knowing how dangerous that move was. The sprinkles of sleep powder were spread out once more. Scootaloo could not let this happen a second time.

"Ponyta! Hold your breath in and use Ember!!" Ponyta did just that. It blocked out its nose to avoid the Sleep Powder from entering its nose. It then spat an ember at Petilil, hitting it. This dealt a ton of damage, actually knocking out Petilil.

"HAH?!" Sapphire was taken aback by this. Her technical strategy was beaten by simple nose blocks.

"Heh. So much for technical. We do this my way!" Timburr! Use Pound!" Timburr only knew two moves. So it used the second one it knew at the moment. Running in, it smashed its beam on Ponyta's head.

"Kick it away!" Scootaloo commanded. Ponyta turned around, kicking the Muscular Pokemon away. That was enough to make Timburr almost faint, but not quite.

"Yikes! Come on Timburr! Stay strong!"

"I'll finish this. Dragon Breath!" Apple Bloom got the final hit in as Applin unleashed a blue flame that engulfed Timburr, making it faint for real.

"Both Petilil and Timburr are unable to battle! The winners are Ponyta and Applin! Which means the victors are Scootaloo and Apple Bloom!"

"Cutie Mark Crusaders Pokemon Victory!" Scootaloo and Apple Bloom both clashed hoofs, congratulating each other. Compared to other Pokemon battles, this one was a bit on the slow side. But they are still young trainers so it is to be expected.

"Bummer."Sunrise was upset as he returned his Timburr. "I could've totally won that if it was just one on one!"

"Yeah right. You're all brute force. You wouldn't last a second against strategic Pokemon. Kinda fitting that you have a Fighting-Type." Sapphire said with disdain.

"Huh?! What's that supposed to mean?!"

"Alright, you two. Calm it down. Don't let that loss get to you so easily." Hollow said. "You're still young and new trainers. Like those two. You've still got a lot to learn. But hey, that's why I'm your teacher."

"You're right, Mr Hollow," Sapphire replied.

"I guess..." So did Sunrise, but he was still bitter about the loss.

"Ash! We won our first battle!" Scootaloo and Apple Bloom ran up to Ash with huge smiles on their face.

"Great isn't it? Pokemon Battles are the best!"

"Pika-Pika!"

"Very soon, you'll be great trainers if you keep on going."

"And we're gonna have a great team too!" They both yelled.

"I wanted to join in though." Sweetie Belle had her hoof on her face, little sour about not getting to join in.

"Well, we'd best be getting along. After all, it's a short day today and no classes tomorrow. Thanks for having us Ash, Fluttershy Brock."

"The pleasure is all ours Hollow. Come and visit anytime." Fluttershy said.

"Come on kids."

"Yes, Mr Hollow." They all headed back to Canterlot, finishing for the day.

"That's another day done. And that's my cue."

"Your cue? What do you mean Brock?" Ash asked.

"I gotta move on Ash. My job as a Pokemon Breeder is needed elsewhere. But it was fun working here for the meantime."

"Aw man.."

"Pika.."

"Don't worry. As Dawn said, we'll always have the gateways, so we can see each other at any time, no problem. And I'll be there to watch you at the Pokemon World Championships."

"I'll see you there too, Brock. Good luck. Pokemon Breeder Brock."

"You too. Pokemon Master Ash." They both shook their hands, knowing that they will both end up achieving their respective dreams and goals. And once more they both went their separate ways.

"You know Ash. You and your friends are something else." Fluttershy smiled.

"Yeah, they are."

"And I think I know what my new goal is." She looked up.

"You do?"

"Pika?"

"Mhm. I want to help other Pokemon out there. I want to see more Pokemon, experience ones that I have never even heard of or even thought of existing. That's what I want to do in the future."

"Sounds adventurous. Just what we like! Right buddy?"

"Pikachu!"

Fluttershy's new goal has been set. To venture and learn more about the beauty of Pokemon.

Somewhere out there in Equestria, near a desolate and dried up lake. Three girls whose bodies have been morphed due to unexpected events were cold. They were 3 ponies, but they were not ponies before. Their bodies were cold as they were walking through the harsh lands.

"Hurry up you two. We have to get out of here somehow." It was the Dazzlings. A few weeks and a month ago, Twilight had entered another world where there were humans. That was its own story, but these three have ended up back in Equestria, but not in their normal forms.
