Pyramid King

Pegalysium. Drifting Peaks. Day.

Over at Pegalysium, yet again, Ash and Pikachu were paying a visit there. This time, they were heading to the special grotto at Drifting Peaks where a Charizard, many other Pokemon and a gateway heading to the Battle Pyramid could be found. Today, he was joined by all of his friends instead of a select few. The Pegalysium guest today was Garnet.

"So, are they all gonna be fine? Getting adjusted to this new era?" Ash asked Twilight, bringing up the topic of the frozen people and Pokemon that had been freed after over a thousand years.

"It'll take them some time. But they've already set their sights on Sendoff Spring. I'm sure the rest of them will catch up later." Twilight replied.

"They're still pretty bugged out about it all. I mean, I'd be too if I woke up after thousands of years of being frozen, ya know." Pinkie Pie commented.

"So like....anyone can live long enough to be in the next era just with some freezing?" said Rainbow Dash. "Good to know..."

"But you'd miss out on all the fun for years." Pinkie Pie thought otherwise.

"We're here. Drifting Peaks." Garnet stopped in her tracks, prompting everyone to do the same. Here, they had arrived at Drifting Peaks where Charizard and the rest of them had spotted the arrival of a familiar face and new faces.

"Zard? Charizard!" They flew over with Charizard leading the way. Garnet gasped as she had been tackled by the Flame Pokemon in a power hug.

"Ow! Charizard!" Garnet laughed as all of the other Pokemon surrounded her. Each of these Pokemon had grown close to Garnet and get excited every time she shows up. "Knock it off!"

"Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur put its vines on Garnet's head, pulling her close before looking down at her from an above angle. Garnet's face turned red from all this overwhelming love she was receiving.

"Pretty naat that they also fund a way to live up here," Ash commented. "But...how'd some of them get up here in the first? Charizard and Heracross make sense but..."

"It might have something to do with that." Twilight had spotted it. Or more like she sensed it. Now that she was a vessel for Rift Magic and possessed heaps of it, she could sense nearby Rift Energy. And by aiming her hoof onwards, Twilight spotted the gateway.

"Oh, right. That thing." Garnet was picked up by Heracross before also looking at the gateway. "That gateway's always been there. Well, when I first showed up at this place. Went through it but...Didn't want to risk much."

"Where does that one go?" Applejack asked.

"Uh, some pyramid place, I don't know." Garnet shrugged. "It was all dark grey I think."

"Could it be Holon?" Fluttershy wondered.

"Dark Grey Pyramid?" Hearing that made Ash's head start to think of one possible place in the Pokemon World that had a pyramid he knew of. There was only one. "Oh! The Battle Pyramid?!"

"Battle Pyramid?" Twiight repeated as Ash immediately approached the gateway. He didn't need to be cautious around this considering he knew where it went.

Knowing that the Battle Pyramid was there made him think of an old friend that he could see again. Curious about this Battle Pyramid, his friends followed. Garnet was finally freed from the grasp of the Pokemon as she took a deep breath. However, she showed love back to them by petting Bulbasaur on the head.

Kanto. Battle Pyramid. Afternoon.

As for the gateway, everyone hopped through it and Garnet was indeed telling the truth about what she saw there. The Battle Pyramid of the Battle Frontier. The final frontier facility that was relatively hard to find compared to the others that were scattered across islands. A large mechanical pyramid stood at the centre of this area. Ash and Pikachu felt nostalgic yet again upon seeing it.

"Yeah! It is the Battle Pyramid!" Ash exclaimed with enthusiasm.

"Pikachu!"

"Is that thing made out of metal!?" Twilight gasped as it did not look like an average pyramid. At least, with the texture. Compared to the pyramids she knew about, this one was covered in a dark grey metal instead of stones from the desert, making this possibly the most durable pyramid of all time.

"Hold on." Garnet finally made her way through, joining her friends in this world.

"What's a Battle Pyramid? Besides what the name implies?" Starlight questioned.

"It's part of the Battle Frontier. It usually flies around and never sticks in one place, just like the Sea Temple. Looks like it showed up here this time."

"Who's in there?" Fluttershy asked. "Is it another prince or Pharoah?"

"Nope. The one inside that pyramid is..." Ash had a smile on his face as he paused his sentence. Right on time, just as his smile had come, the pyramid started opening, alerting everyone. One of the sides of the pyramid acted as an entrance, separating as Audino and Fluttershy could hear footsteps nearby.

Someone was coming. Ash knew exactly who this was. Coming out of the pyramid to meet with these two familiar faces was the strongest of all the Frontier Brains.

Brandon the Pyramid King.

"Brandon!"

"Pikachu!"

"If it isn't Ash. Pikachu. Young man. It's been a while." Brandon greeted Ash and Pikachu once they met again. "I figured that gateway over there would pique your interest like the others."

"Yeah. You're right. Pikachu and I have moved through a lot of them, that's for sure. Probably haven't even found all of them yet."

"Hm? Who are your friends over there?" Brandon soon noticed Twilight and the others. "Your party has grown the last time I saw it."

"Party?" Garnet repeated, realizing that she was now getting roped into this group and the adventures that they take on. At least, a small part of it at the moment. Twilight and everyone waved to Brandon, introducing themselves. He took a closer look at them, finally recognizing their appearances.

"Hmm...So that's who you all are. Makes sense since you're here with these two." Brandon nodded. "What brings you here today after so long?"

"I just had to see if it was real. This gateway connects to the Battle Pyramid, but I'm guessing it's not gonna be here forever right?"

"Not at all. We'll be leaving this spot in 2 days and heading elsewhere. But, you showed up just in time. Very soon, I'll have a challenger come by for a battle. After that, we're off."

"What's a Battle Frontier by the way? Is it all in that place?" Pinkie Pie had a question herself.

"You see, the Battle Frontier's this special event where you can take on new and stronger challenges. It's sort of like a bigger Gym Battle when you think about it. And the Frontier Brains are the Gym Leaders." Ash explained it to the best of his knowledge.

"And it's only accessible if you manage to reach far at a certain point as a trainer," Brandon added. "Otherwise, entering it will be impossible and finding this place would be just as impossible. But that gateway changes that. At least, while we're still here."

"I still remember to this day when you came by and challenged me a few times, Ash. And after hearing about your recent accomplishments, you've certainly deserved those Frontier Badges."

"Gee. Thanks, Brandon."

"Frontier Badges? Sweet! So then...Could I enter?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Could you? That depends. You're going through what's known as the Equestria League back in your world. If you were to do various challenges in this world instead, then that chance for you to challenge the Battle Frontier will come. However, this challenger only requested to battle me while also being from your world."

"Huh? Really?" Rainbow pulled back. "So then...what about the others?"

"Battling the final Frontier Brain is something anyone is allowed to do, but only as an exhibition match. The rest of it needs to be official. As for this challenger, she'll be here soon. She wished to prepare herself before going through with the battle. You came at the best time to see this upcoming battle."

"Nice stuff. Say, is Scott around?" Ash looked around for Scott, who was the organizer for the Battle Frontier.

"He's busy at the Battle Pike. It's just me for now until the entire group is reunited in two days. And it sounds like...that challenger is showing up now." Brandon looked to the skies which prompted everyone else to do the same. Audino and Fluttershy already heard it.

The sound of wings flapping in the air. They were getting closer as they did not belong to a Pokemon but rather a pegasus. When that pegasus showed up, Rainbow Dash was the first to recognize that visage.

Lightning Dust had arrived. A surprising reveal as Rainbow Dash was the most taken aback by this. Lightning Dust descended, not yet spotting Rainbow Dash until a mighty gasp and shout came from her rival.

"It's you?!"

"Hm?" Lightning Dust looked over before also having a shocked expression. "Gah! You're here?! Did you follow me?!" She vigorously aimed her hoof at Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash even did the same thing when spotting her.

"Follow you? No way! I just showed up here with my friends. I didn't think you'd be the challenger. Y-You are the challenger, right?"

"Of course, I am. Learned about this place all by myself and I took the chance to challenge the best trainer in this Battle Frontier thing. I couldn't enter it anyway."

"Lightning Dust found this place and issued an immediate challenge with me. I accepted, of course, but seeing as she's a new Pokemon Trainer from your world, her reasons for challenging me are something I have to test."

"Got that right. Frontier Brains are sort of a mystery, aren't they? It's not known if they're better than Gym Leaders or even Elite Four Members. So what better way to test it out than to face you, Brandon the Pyramid King."

"Young lady. I admire your spirit but...you might want to be careful what you get yourself into." Brandon closed his eyes before then smirking. "I may accept challenges any time from anyone, but I do more than just battle."

"Yeah, yeah. Now that I'm here we can get started. And all of you can watch as I win this and beat the strongest Frontier Brain." Lightning Dust declared that she would emerge victorious.

"Pssh. Yeah right." Rainbow Dash scoffed, calling it a bluff.

"I don't know about that..." Ash knew very well what the outcome of this battle would be. "But you gotta love the energy she has."

"Pika..."

"Bayleef senses a fate that she can't change." Fluttershy shook her head.

"Bay."

"You remind me of someone that also challenged me," Brandon commented. "I doubt that even if I were to say what I was capable of, you wouldn't leave for a second, would you?"

"Not at all. Let's do it now, come on!" Lightning Dust exclaimed.

"Very well. Come inside." It was official. They would all get to see Lightning Dust take on Brandon the Pyramid King. Aside from Ash and Pikachu, everyone would get to see the strength of a Frontier Brain for the first time.

Inside the Battle Pyramid.

They had arrived within the Battle Pyramid as everyone else took their seats while Brandon and Lighting Dust stood in the arena. The arena was staggeringly large. Bigger than any Gym arena while being close to that of a Pokemon League Stadium at best. Its size m watched a contest stage more than anything. Garnet would also have the chance to see her first official Pokemon Battle that didn't put anything major at stake.

Although in this case, Lightning Dust's pride was at stake.

"Right then. I'll lay out the rules for you, young lady. It's a full 6-on-6 battle. Here, Pokemon exchanges on both sides are allowed instead of one. And it will all be over once either Pokemon on each side is unable to battle." Brandon explained.

"I know that already. But I was hoping for that 6-on-6 one. This'll give all my Pokemon a chance to win this. Lightning Dust grinned, holding out a Poke Ball. "I'm ready."

"Alright then." Brandon also held out a Poke Ball. "Let's start."

"Go! Banette" Lightning Dust launched the Poke Ball, sending out her Banette.

"Banette!"

"Regirock! I need your assistance!" Brandon chose Regirock, revealing one of the Legendary Titans to everyone.

"REGI-REGIROCK!"

"He's got a Regirock?!" Spike shouted as the others were blown back by this. Garnet just shook her head, not sure what she was looking at. She still had a lot to see when it came to the different species of Pokemon.

"You have that kind of Pokemon with you?" Lighting Dust's eyes widened. "That's a little unnerving, but it won't get to me. I'll beat a Legendary and show just how great I am at this!2

"We'll see."

"Go! Banette! Shadow Claw!"

"Nette! Banette!" Both of Banette's claws became surrounded by a black aura with a purple outline. The aura then took the form of a bigger claw as the Marionette Pokemon lunged at Regirock.

"Regirock! Stone Edge!"

"𝐔𝐍 𝐔𝐍 𝐔𝐍 𝐔𝐍 𝐔𝐍 𝐔𝐍!" Regirock retaliated by summoning multiple glowing blue rocks around its body. IT held its arms out before then lunging these rocks in a barrage.

"Banette!" Banette started swinging at the stones, trying to knock all of them away. However, some of them managed to hit the Marionette Pokemon as the speed was a bit too much. "Bane!" Banette was knocked out of the sky, unable to land Shadow Claw.

"Now, Regirock! Zap Cannon!"

"RE-ʳєG𝓘я𝐎ςK!" Regirock followed up with Zap Cannon, summoning an orb of electricity that crackled violently.

"Banette, quickly! Dark Pulse!"

"Nette!" Banette didn't end up crashing on the ground. Instead, it managed to recover by levitating and rolling its body. And in the midst of rolling, Banette managed to generate an orb of darkness. It appeared upside down, unleashing a black wave at its angle. "Banette!"

Zap Cannon and Dark Pulse met, wobbling and fighting against each other. But, Zap Cannon managed to edge out, blasting through Banette's Dark Pulse.

"B-Bane?!" Banette gasped as its attack had been torn through with ease. The orb then struck the Ghost-Type, sending vicious volts through it Finally Banette hit the ground and in that process, Zap Cannon's best effect came through. The power to always paralyze the opponent, which is exactly what happened to Banette.

"Gah! Banette!" Lightning Dust exclaimed as Banette stood up, having electricity crackle around its body. Already, Brandon and Regirock had taken the lead with ease, getting a status effect off. "This is nothing..."

"Really now?" Brandon replied with an amusing smirk. "But, I suppose this would be simple and any trainer could pull this off. I've yet to play at my best currently."

"Grr...Return, Banette!" Lightning Dust chose to return Banette instead of keeping it out. She quickly swapped Poke Balls, sending out her next Pokemon. "How about I shock you back? Toxtricity!"

"Toxtricity!"

"Here we go! Overdrive!"

"Tricity!" Toxtricity had used the electrical organ strings on his chest, strumming them as it unleashed a huge echo vibration wave.

"Regirock! Block it!"

"RE!" Regirock would try and block it instead of countering the vast wave of electricity. It put its arms up, allowing the vibrations to connect. The vibrations managed to shake the Rock Peak Pokemon, but they could not move it. Regirock did not budge.

"Would've been better to counter! Poison Jab!"

"Toxi!" Toxtricity would now approach Regirock, covering his arms in poison, approaching the Rock-Type.

"Drain Punch!"

"REGI! REGIROCK!" Regirock would counter with the opposite of Poison Jab. Drain Punch. One would potentially poison the opponent while the other would heal the user. Regirock and Toxtricity met with their respectively physical moves clashing, creating some sparks.

"GO! Push through, Toxtricity!" Lightning Dust bellowed.

"Tox!" Toxtricity tried pushing through Regirock, however, the Rock Peak Pokemon had the physical strength to hold back the Punk Pokemon.

"Pointless! Now, Regirock!"

"Ữ𝐧 𝐔𝓷 𝐮𝐍!" Regirock would use more than one arm. It would use the other one that was still free to use. From the right, Regirock attacked Toxtricity from the side.

"Get back, Toxtricity!"

"Tox!" Just barely, Toxtricity managed to move away from Regirock's second Drain Punch. The punch whiffed, almost hitting his electric organs in the process.

"Go in, one more time! Poison Jab!

"Tricity!" But, Toxtricity would still try with Poison Jab, lunging back in as this time, he had used both of his hands, swinging violently at Regirock.

"Hold your guard and defend yourself, Regirock!"

"REGI!" Regirock would defend itself from Toxtricity's attacks this time, putting its arms up.

"Yeah, right! Go from behind!"

"Toxtricity!" Toxtricity switched it, lunging over Regirock's head and going for its back instead of its front. A quick switch-up that was beneficial since Regirock was a slow Pokemon. "Tox!" When behind Regirock, Toxtricity, smashed both his hands into Regirock's back, finally landing a blow as Regirock dropped its arms. The force of the hit from the back was enough to even slightly move Regirock.

"Yes! Now blow it back with Boomburst!"

"TOX!" After slightly pushing Regirock back, Toxtricity followed up with Boomburst, strumming his organs once more. Something greater than electric soundwave came out. A massive wave of crushing sound that shook the area, attacking everything. The sound was powerful, harming the ears of the Pokemon, especially Audino, who was the most sensitive it.

"How's that?! That walking rock's gonna move and crumble under the might of my Pokemon!"

"So you say." Brandon remained calm. "Drain Punch!"

"RE...GI...!" Regirock slowly turned around, facing Toxtricity as it was suddenly moving through the soundwaves.

"No way!" Lightning Dust gasped as it looked like Regirock was barely bothered by this. "Amp it up, Toxtricity!"

"Toxtricity!" Toxtricity amped up the volume and frequency of the soundwaves to try and push Regirock back. At the same time, Regirock was approaching. The soundwaves looked like they were managing to keep Regirock at bay, but that was all fake as Regirock's fists managed to not only push through the soundwave, but also sock Toxtricity's face. "Tox!"

"Ah! Toxtricity!" Lightning Dust gasped as Toxtricity had some of his energy taken away from him. Regirock had managed to heal itself after that impact.

"That's harsh. Regirock might never fall if she doesn't do something." Twilight Sparkle commented.

"How come?" Garnet asked as she wished to be caught up in all of this.

"Regirock has an amazing defence. And thanks to Drain Punch, it can restore its energy as if nothing happened and continue going on. The only Pokemon that can ignore that energy-stealing attack is her Banette." Fluttershy explained.

"Energy stealing?" Garnet squinted. "With just a punch?"

"It's not over yet!" Lightning Dust growled. "This is just getting started, okay?!"

"Indeed. Regirock, return." Suddenly, Brandon chose to return Regirock, swapping the Rock Peak Pokemon out for another Pokemon. Lightning Dust scrunched her face as she was hoping that her Toxtricity would be a match for whatever Pokemon shows up next. "Regice! I need your assistance!"

"REGICE! RE-REGICE!"

"This time it's Regice?! He has two Legendary Titans?!" Rarity exclaimed. "Then...what are his other six Pokemon?!"

"He's got two more that hit hard. You'll see." Ash replied, knowing of two more heavy hitters and immovable forces in his team.

"Well, I love what I'm seeing!" Rainbow Dash laughed, enjoying Lightning Dust being beaten out so far with Brandon taking charge of this battle.

"Hmph! Ice-Types are way too fragile. I'll take advantage of that! Return, Toxtricity!" Lighting Dust also chose to return her Pokemon. The next Poke Ball had been taken out as she launched it a second later. "Incineroar! Out you come!"

"Incineroar!" Out came her ace, Incineroar.

"I'll finish this in one strike! Go! Flare Blitz!"

"Incine...ROAR!" The Heel Pokemon crossed his arms in front of his face and its body, engulfing it in a crimson aura. Incineroar then puts its arms down and soars straight at the opponent like a missile. While flying towards the opponent, only its head can be seen, and its body becomes covered in spiralling red-yellow fire while it becomes surrounded in red-orange fire.

"Earthquake!"

"ICE!" But Regice immediately responded with an equally devastating attack. By smashing both its arms down, it summoned a giant golden shockwave that harnessed power from the earth itself.

"What?! Earthquake?!" Lightning Dust pulled back as Incineroar's Flare Blitz crashed into the giant golden shockwaves, postponing it from reaching Regice.

"C-Cine...!" Incineroar growled, trying to break through the golden shockwaves of the earth. However, Earthquake emerged victorious, overpowering Flare Blitz while also blowing Incineroar back, dealing super-effective damage to the Fire-Dark-Type that launched it away.

"Incineroar, no!"

"R-Roar!" Incineroar hung in there, but that Earthquake winded him while also putting him on the backfoot in a matter of seconds.

"She can barely do much against her." Starlight gawked. "All three of her Pokemon so far have been hit hard. And his Pokemon are sitting pretty and healthy."

"Both of his Regis have great defence..." Twilight shuddered. "If he has more, then Lightning Dust might never make one of them fall for even a second."

"So. How is it, Lightning Dust?" Brandon said to his opponent. "You wished to take on a powerful opponent such as myself. Compared to who you've faced through your young Pokemon Journey, how does this level of battling feel? Is it exactly what you wanted?"

"And more." Lightning Dust scoffed. "But, you're only using Legendary Pokemon! Obviously, I'm gonna have a hard time! How's that super fair?! Be it anything else, I would've made things even, ya hear?!"

"Nooooooo!" Brandon suddenly shouted, startling Lightning Dust. "Young lady! That excuse will do you no good!"

"Eh?"

"Do you think this is only because I have Legendary Pokemon? It doesn't matter what kind of Pokemon is out in the battle. It's the trainer's strength that matters. Ash and other trainers that have come here have proven that they don't need the power of a Legend to claim victory. That is the true eternal passion of the Pokemon Trainer and the Pokemon. Facing the opponent no matter who they are?"

"Grr...!" Lightning Dust growled as she didn't have much to argue back with.

"But. Since you see it that, way, I'll do this. Regice, return." Brandon returned Regice "Hold on for a moment, my friend. Young lady. Let's see how you deal with this?! I need your assistance, Dusknoir!" He sent out his next Pokemon as it was a Dusknoir.

"Dusknoir!"

"Sweet! Brandon's Dusclops evolved!" Ash pointed out, remembering when it was a Dusclops in the past.

"Heh. You're willingly sending out a weaker Pokemon just to prove a point?" Lightning Dust smirked while Garnet hid behind
Rarity once Dusknoir appeared, confirming that she was terrified of ghosts, reasonably. "Kinda cocky, don't you think?"

"See for yourself if my Dusknoir is weaker," Brandon replied which only irritated Lightning Dust some more. The battle between these two was in its early stages. Neither side has lost a Pokemon but Brandon's Pokemon were still healthy while Lightning Dust's current Pokemon were already feeling some damage.

Lightning Dust's persistence to try and out-best such a powerful Pokemon Trainer was potent. But Brandon believed that it wasn't enough with how she was now as the journey continues.
