When the trainers are away

Author's Note:

In this chapter, the Pokemon talk. Not due to some magic, but to them, the words they say are normal

Ponyville Day.

It was a seemingly normal day today. Nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing happening was Twilight testing out some magic. An advanced form of the teleportation spell. Where she can bring multiple items with her when teleports. No matter how heavy they are. But this backfired hard. What ended up happening was everypony and human were teleported out of nowhere. The only ones remaining were the Pokemon. Even when they were inside the Pokeballs, they were left behind as the trainers went missing.

Pikachu was looking for Ash. The last thing he saw was a flash of light.

"Ash! Where'd you go?" He called out for his friend. He could only see Pokemon around. He then spotted Twilight's Minccino, Minccy. "Minccy! You're here. Have you seen Ash and the others?"

"Sorry, Pikachu. I don't have a clue myself. I can't find Twilight anywhere." Minccy replied.

"Well, how come the Pokemon are still here?"

"Beats me. We're the only species left. What if something terrible happened to them?!"

"Calm down. We'll figure this out. We can ask every Pokemon else."

Heading into Ponyville, Pokemon were everywhere. They were all lost, looking for their missing trainers. They all turned to Pikachu, noticing him as Ash's Pikachu.

"Hey look! It's Ash Pikachu! He'll know what to do!" A Farfetch'd said. They all flocked to the Electric Mouse Pokemon, putting all their faith in him.

"Come on, Pikachu! Tell us what to do!"

"Yeah! Or at least tell us where they are!"

"Uhh. Thing is.. I don't know myself." Pikachu answered. "But I'll get to the bottom of it. We all will. Let's all spread out and see what we can find!"

Pikachu took charge as a leader. All Pokemon spread out to find any lead on their trainers. They searched every home and building, every nook and cranny, high and low. The Flying-Type Pokemon took the skies to see if they could spot their trainers anywhere.

"Where could they be?" Pikachu sighed. Rainbow Dash's Pokemon arrived as they were on the search for their trainer as well. "Braviary! Whirlipede! Swablu! There you three are."

"I'm hungry. Where's Rainbow Dash. Isn't she gonna feed us?" Swablu groaned.

"Sorry. But she and everyone else have gone missing. It's just us Pokemon left."

"They weren't abducted were they?" Braviary uttered.

"Pretty sure they weren't...." Pikachu replied. "We've got everyone looking for them. I hope we can find them soon."

Riolu, Dragonite and Gengar exited their Pokeballs, being separated from Ash as well.

"What? What is it?" Gengar thought he was called out to battle, but no Ash was there. "Odd."

"Where's Ash? WHERE'S ASH?!" Dragonite was starting to freak out.

"Don't freak out Dragonite! Please!" Pikachu tried to calm the Dragon Pokemon down. Dragonite didn't want to be apart from Ash so the fear was to get it. Mayor Mare's Lillipup arrived to spill some news to Pikachu. "What did you find Lillipup?"

"Nothing. The entire town's empty with ponies." Lillipup answered.

"It's not the only location." A voice called out to them. It was Celestia's Kirlia named Passion. Along with Darkrai and the rest of Luna's Pokemon.

"Don't tell me... Canterlot too? How big was it?" Pikachu chattered.

"I can probably guess what caused it. Magic obviously. Must've been huge magic." said Passion.

"How can you tell, Passion?" Pikachu asked.

"We Fairy Types are experts at magic. We can tell when magic is involved somehow. And this is the cause of teleportation."

"Teleportation?" They all said in unison.

"Mhm. On a grand scale. Someone cast a powerful teleportation spell. Either on purpose or just by accident."

"Even Celestia and Luna." Darkrai muttered.

"This is a disaster on a global scale! We're doomed!" Riolu started to panic as well.

"Would you calm down! There's a solution to all of this!" Passion yelled at Riolu. "Our best option is to wait for Celestia to solve this. No one is better at magic than her."

"Twilight's good at magic too!" Minccy said.

"Yeah. But she's not Celestia." Passion obviously had some bias due to Celestia being her trainer. Minccino puffed her cheeks as she crossed her little arms.

"No time to argue. So you think that's what we should do in the meantime, Passion?" said Pikachu.

"Indeed. You can take my word for it. Celestia and the others will return. You can put your faith in Ash too, can't you Pikachu?"

"Of course I can. Ash is the strongest guy I know. He'll be back for sure. But I'm super worried, ya know."

"In the meantime! Let's do whatever! We don't' have any human or Pokemon to stop us!" A rambunctious Geodude yelled.

"We're not going to. That'd be-" Before Passion could finish her sentence, she was run over by a bunch of Pokemon who were ready to go wild. "Ugh... Idiots."

"I don't know. It won't be the same knowing Ash is gone." Pikachu sulked a bit.

"Cheer up. Let's have fun with the time that we have." Gengar patted him in the back. "Besides. I know what I'm gonna do to have fun." The Ghost-Type snickered, becoming intangible.

"This is the only thing left of Ash." Pikachu was holding Ash's hat in his hands this entire time. Once the flash happened, his hat was the last thing left behind. Pikachu had placed his friend's hat right on his little head. Dragonite huddled in a corner, worrying about Ash, rocking back and forth.

At SugarCube Corner, some Pokemon were about to snack on some pastry that Mr and Mrs Cake had prepared. The Slurpuff's had gotten in their way though.

"Hey! Keep your mitts off!" The Slurpuff's were doing their best to try and prevent them from eating all that hard work.

At Carousel Boutique, the Sewaddle's were pushing Pokemon away from the dresses with their strings.

"Don't! Rarity and we worked hard on these!"

Darkrai was watching this all go down. It was then that he remembered one Pokemon who might be able to help. One of his fellow team members from Luna's selection. Xatu.

"Xatu. You can see into the future, right? Can you tell if they'll be back soon?"

Xatu stood there, gazing into the sky. It was looking into the future with its mystical eyes.

"I see. But I can also see the past." The Mystic Pokemon replied.

"The past?" Passion and Darkrai both said.

"A flash of light engulfed them all. A teleporting flash to be exact. They indeed have been teleported somewhere. And in the future, they'll return by magic.

"Then that means the Rift is probably behind this!" Pikachu came to a conclusion!

"No, it isn't. The Rift is cosmic not magic. Two different power sources." Kirlia corrected him.

"I'm confused about why it didn't take us?" Minccy uttered.

"When are they gonna return?" Darkrai asked.

"In 3 hours. It's best that you all make sure that their town doesn't get violated by our brethren's wild antics." Xatu explained. Pikachu and the others turned around to see the Pokemon going wild, messing about. They gulped, knowing what might happen if they returned and saw how huge of a mess everything would be if they didn't stop them.

"Alright! Listen up!" Passion raised her voice, drawing all of their attention. "You can all have fun, but make sure you don't cause any destruction that will upset the ponies when they return home."

"Since when were you in charge?" A Rattata asked.

"Hmph. I'm Celestia's Pokemon. Therefore, I am the most important Pokemon here. Thank you very much." Passion proudly said, crossing her arms and looking down at the Mouse Pokemon.

"Oh, she does have a good point." They all chattered agreeing.

"Now go along and have fun until they return. And remember, no destruction! I've got my eye on you Ponyta. Keep that flame mane and tail in check." She was referring to Scootaloo's Ponyta.

Pikachu went up to Dragonite who was still panicking.

"Don't worry Dragonite. Xatu saw into the future and knows they'll be back. So there's no need to worry."

"R-Really?"

"Mhm!"

"Oh, that's good to hear!" Dragonite hugged Pikachu, very tightly.

"Ugh! Y-Yeah..."

Minutes passed with the Pokemon having the entirety of Ponyville to themselves. But the same thing was happening over at Canterlot.

Hollow's Pokemon were also puzzled.

"Where'd he go? He was right here..." Delphox wondered about her missing trainer.

"Maybe he's out for lunch?" Scrafty said.

"Whatever the reason, Canterlot is oddly filled with more Pokemon than ponies. In fact... there are no ponies! What has happened?"

"The students are gone too. Every last one of them. I can't even hear the loudmouth Sunrise Sprint." Scrafty commented.

This was happening in Manehattan too. The streets were filled with nothing but Pokemon, as well as the buildings. For a few hours, the Pokemon would own all of Equestria.

However, there was one individual who wasn't teleported away.

Discord.

He made his way back easily. He had heard of Xatu seeing in the future and how they'd all come back eventually, so he decided to wait it out and see what chaos might ensue with all these Pokemon going about.

"Oooh. This is interesting. I wonder which Pocket Monster will cause the most chaos?" He got out a recording camera to catch some juicy action.

Riolu decided to pick a fight with any Pokemon. He might as well get stronger on his own if Ash isn't around to train him for the meantime. But he was quickly given a reminder that he doesn't do well in battle on his own without Ash to sync up with his aura. So he was knocked away easily by a Floatzel.

Kirlia returned to Canterlot to fill for Celestia as ruler.

"From this point on, I'm the ruler now. Until Celestia returns."

"Then what does that make me?" Darkrai asked.

"You're the secondary ruler. Just behind me."

"Tch. I liked you better when you were a shy and timid Ralts." Darkrai muttered.

"I'll keep watch over all the Pokemon here. It'll be easy." She sat down on Celestia's throne, posing as a queen would. Evolving into Kirlia made Passion's attitude change a bit. Like any Pokemon would when they evolve.

As for Pikachu, he was simply sitting near SugarCube Corner. Still missing Ash. He didn't even get involved with the hijinks and fun the others were having. Braviary flew down to Pikachu.

"Still worried?"

"Yeah, Braviary. Still am. What about you?"

"Of course I'm worried! Rainbow Dash and I are a power team. I can't imagine what I'd do without her. After all, I just evolved not too long ago. But you said it yourself. Ash is the strongest guy you know. So why not relax until they all come back."

"I guess so. Yeah. I can have fun before Ash comes back!" Pikachu had a smile on his face as he jumped up. He could kill some time with some fun with other Pokemon. Pikachu ran into the middle of Ponyville as he saw Gengar messing about with the smaller Pokemon. Pikachu then spotted something that caught his eye.

It was a small book that looked new. Pikachu picked it up as he read what it said on the cover.

"Memories with Pokemon."

A memoir book made by Twilight. Opening it, he saw words and improvised drawings of Twilight and the others along with Ash. Each of them was recreations of everything that happened ever since the two worlds crossed. Twilight made this because of how she learned of both words returning back to normal once the Rift left. So she'll have this as a memoir of Ash and the Pokemon World.

"Twilight made this? She really doesn't want to see us go huh?" This touched Pikachus' heart. Even he was worried about leaving this world behind. He kept flipping through the pages as he kept seeing the references. When he understood Twilight's frustration at the Royal Wedding, the time she experienced the beauty of Pokemon by a show that Fluttershy put up, the time they experienced Rainbow Dash winning her first Gym Battle and being super happy about it.

Pikachu kept reading the book, but it stopped with blank pages. Their adventures weren't over yet. So Twilight will fill it in as time goes on. Pikachu closed the book, holding it close to him for a while. But that didn't last as a Swoobat swooped down and snagged the book from Pikachu's tiny little mouse hands.

"Hey! Give it back!"

"Mine now!"

"That's Twilight's book!" Pikachu yelled as he sent a Thunderbolt that struck Swoobat down. This ended up not only damaging the book a bit, but it also made it fall down. Pikachu gasped as the memory book landed near a Purrloin.

Purrloin looked a the book, putting its tail on it and claiming it for its own.

"This books seems nice. I'm keeping it."

"You can't keep that! That belongs to Twilight!"

"Who? Oh, you mean that purple alicorn pony. Sorry, I don't pay attention to other ponies. I'm more focused on my lovely Diamond Tiara. I'm sure she'll love this."

"Not if I grab it from you!" Pikachu rushed in, trying to grab the book but Purrloin lifted its tail, making him miss.

"Too slow." She teased. Pikachu growled as he kept trying to grab it, but she kept moving her tail about. Pikachu kicked up some dirt as it got in the Devious Pokemon's eyes. "My eyes!" Pikachu grabbed the book, taking it back from her. "Whatever! I didn't want the book anyways! Hmph!" Purrloin walked off, returning to her friend who was Silver Spoon's Pokemon, Glameow."

Pikachu looked at the book, seeing how this Thunderbolt had damaged it a bit.

"This is bad. I messed up. What's Twilight gonna do if she sees this?" Pikachu kept on walking as he eventually found his way to the Pokemon House. It was the most active since Fluttershy wasn't there. He saw them all a bit a puzzled. Some of them were hungry since Fluttershy feeds them normally. Pikachu spotted Audino who was doing her best to keep them all calm.

"Now now all of you. I'm sure Fluttershy will return soon." Audino said in a gentle tone.

"What if she doesn't!? What if she never comes back?! We'll be Fluttershy-less! Who's gonna care for us!?" A panicking Aipom rambled.

"She'll return. Oh, look. Ash's Pikachu."

"Hey, Audino." He greeted.

"Please call me Audi like Fluttershy does.

"Well, Audi. You're right on one thing. They'll return thanks to Xatu seeing in the future. But it'll take 3 hours. So we're gonna have to wait." This sprouted hope back into the worried Pokemon. But they were still starving.

"That's wonderful. But I haven't managed to find any food for every Pokemon here. Fluttershy normally knows where to get them."

"Why not get some food from the other world? That's where all of our stuff is anyways." Pikachu recommended.

"That would be the better option. But the Pokemon need someone to watch over them without getting too riled up. And I-" Before Audino could finish her sentence, Whirlipede came rolling in to warn Pikachu.

"Pikachu! We have a problem!"

The Pokemon couldn't take it anymore. They were going crazy. They missed their trainers so much to the point where they started causing destruction. Whether on purpose or by accident. This is what Xatu predicted would happen.

"Oh my Arceus. They've gone crazy!" Pikachu exclaimed. "Xatu wasn't kidding. We have to calm them down. Braviary!" Braviary came flying down, hearing Pikachu's call. "Can you take care of the wild ones who are in the air?"

"You can count on me." Braviary flew up to deal with any destruction happening at Cloudsdale.

"Swablu. You go and help Braviary. The rest of can handle everything on ground level."

The buildings were being torn apart by Pokemon who really, really wanted their trainers back. Rooftops were being sent to the ground. Windows shattering over the sound of a crying Chingling. Inside SugarCube Corner, the Slurpuff couldn't defend the pastries from the hungry Pokemon. At all. At the Boutique, the Sewaddle were easily overpowered by the other Pokemon as the dresses were all tattered up along with accessories and fashion items spread all over the place.

Lillipup was defending Town Hall to keep any Pokemon from ruining Mayor Mare's home. No one is gonna vandalize his trainer's house.

Canterlot was receiving a similar treatment. But on a less destructive scale, since the Pokemon there are somewhat civilized thanks to them living Canterlot with their trainers.

Passion was panicking. She thought she could rule easily, but it was backfiring quickly. She didn't know the first of being a queen.

"This was a mistake! I can't do this!"A Munchlax was eating everything from the Canterlot Kitchen, Dugtrio's were digging up holes wherever they wanted and the Excadrills weren't making it any better by clawing in the ground to make their new tunnel locations. A pack of Durant were carrying Picnic food from the vanished ponies as a Loudred kept on making noise.

It was at this moment that Pikachu and Passion were reminded that Pokemon exist in the wild for a reason. If they are ever to be left alone in a location like a town or a city or even an entire kingdom, things will go south very fast. They're only allowed to cause this much chaos in the wild.

And all the while, Discord didn't do a single thing about it. He was just loving this.

"I can't wait to see the look on everypony's faces when they return. It's going to be priceless."

There was one other issue that no one took into account. Who was gonna lower the sun and raise the moon if Celestia and Luna are gone too?

"This is a disaster." Darkrai sighed. He would put them all into a nightmare state, but he didn't want too, since that would be cruel and he's just learned how to maintain his nightmare curse.

3 hours had passed. Pikachu waited patiently. Braviary and the other Pokemon managed to calm the others down, only making Ponyville slightly damaged. as Xatu's premonition came true.

A burst of magical energy happened in the air. A vortex of magic emerged as all the Pokemon turned their attention to it.

Out of the vortex came Ash, Twilight and everyone else who was teleported as they all fell down on the ground, landing on each other.

"OW!" They all said in unison.

"Hehe. Told you it would work." Twilight said, dazed.

"Pika Pi!" Pikachu let out a happy cry as he ran over to Ash. All the other Pokemon went towards their trainers, happy to see them once more.

"Oh hey Pikachu. Sorry I was gone for a while." Pikachu hugged Ash, full of joy in his heart. Dragonite came flying in, hugging Ash as well with tears balling out.

"Next time Twilight. Please make sure you understand the scale of the spell before you do it." Celestia commented.

"Hehe sorry."

"It's time to get back now." Celestia used the teleportation spell, managing to teleport all of Canterlot's citizens back. She did it easily since she mastered it a long time ago.

"Being stuck in that endless space was weird." Rainbow uttered.

"I could've sworn I saw my old knick-knacks in there. Huh." said Pinkie Pie.

Pikachu had raised the book up, showing it to Twilight.

"Pikachu. You found my memory book?"

"Pika!"

"Memory book?" Applejack asked.

"This is a newly made book that I crafted. It's what I want to remember the Pokemon World and all the adventures we've had before both worlds return to normal. It's an ever-growing book. So I'll keep on updating it. And I'll add in what just happened today as well." Twilight said with a wide smile on her face.

"Aww.." Her friends hugged her. "Hey! Why is it mildly damaged?!" Pikachu was sweating as he quickly hopped back on Ash's shoulder, placing his hat back on his head.

"What happened here?!" Mayor Mare bellowed. She and everypony got a glimpse of the semi-destroyed Ponyville. The ponies all turned to their Pokemon as they let out a small blush and whistle.

At Canterlot, Passion went running to Celestia, crying as she missed her so much.

"I'm here Passion. Don't worry." She hugged her little Pokemon.

"What happened while we were gone, Darkrai?" Luna asked.

"It's best that you don't know."

Pokemon. Despite how grand and wonderful they may be... At times they cannot do everything on their own. That is why the bond between trainers and Pokemon exists. And that bond has helped forged the Pokemon World into what it is now. And it will continue growing, even helping all of Equestria and this world grow. As the journey continues.
