Celestia vs Kommo-o

Alola. Vast Poni Canyon. Afternoon.

During the goal to catch the Totem Kommo-o that resides in Poni Canyon, Celestia, Spike and Ember were in a race to see who would reach the Scaly Pokemon first. They took different pathways, but two of them had run into each other. Spike and Ember.

Celestia was on her own, currently heading on the upper path to try and find Kommo-o while Spike and Ember would engage in a Pokemon Battle to see who would go ahead. While running up the pathway, she could hear some rumbling from below. It echoed throughout the cave as it sounded like a Pokemon Battle was going on.

"Must be more obstacles for those two...or they're fighting for the chance to reach Kommo-o. A shame I'll be the one to get there first~" She whistled with a proud look on her face. "After I'm done here, I have to bring Luna along and hold her in this form. Or maybe make her appear as a human too. Oh, this is all too much fun~!"

Speaking of Spike and Ember, moments before the rumbling, they were still staring each other down, knowing what had to be done. It would be fitting as they were both Pokemon Trainers and dragons. Competitive conflict was bound eventually.

"So, sorry, Ember. But I really wanna get that Kommo-o. So...Go for it Druddigon!" Spike hopped off Druddigon, letting him go first in this battle.

"Druddigon."

"Same here. I don't mean beating my friends. Get in there, Gabite."

"Gabite!" Gabite stepped forward as he and Druddigon started roaring at each other to assert dominance. This would be a battle against two Cave Pokemon. They were battling in a familiar area so neither one of them would have an advantage over the other.

"Carbink?" Immediately, the Carbink that live in this cave poked their heads to the side, spotting and sensing an incoming Pokemon Battle. And this battle would result in the noises that Celestia had heard recently.

"Let's go, Druddigon! Metal Claw!"

"Druddi!" Druddigon went first, covering his claws in a metallic aura as he left dents of his footprints on the ground.

"Go, Gabite! Use Dragon Claw!"

"Ga!" Gabite went ahead, responding with his own claws. It would be a claw-to-claw confrontation that would start things off. Not too uncommon for Dragon Pokemon. That's how they usually start their battles. They smashed their claws together before initiating a fierce clash.

"Druddigon!" Druddigon went for a swift hit, only for Gabite to block it right afterwards with the side of his claws. Druddigon went in for another hit as Gabite blocked it again with his second claw. Gabite struck back once he blocked the double Metal Claws, slashing Druddigon's face and forcing him back. "Dru!"

"Gabite!" After forcing Druddigon back, staggering him for a bit, Gabite figured now was a good time to advance, going for a vertical slash to his fellow Cave Pokemon's face.

"Don't let him get the better of you, Druddigon!"

"Druddigon!" Druddigon wouldn't let that happen. His eyes flashed red as he quickly reacted to the incoming slash, using the strength of Metal Claw to grab Gabite's claws. "Gon!"

"Ga?!" Gabite gasped as one of his claws had been restrained. Before Gabite could use the other claw, Druddigon used his brute strength to then shoulder throw Gabite while he had him in one place. "Gabite!" Gabite was then thrown over and slammed down to the ground, causing some rocks to fly up.

The Carbink all cried out, stunned and mesmerized by this battle. Which meant that they couldn't look away. This battle had interested them to the point where they could ignore it. Taking a peek at this battle were the other Pokemon. Mainly Mienfoo and Machoke who crept up and took a peek. Something like this was too good to ignore since they were Fighting-Types. Rocks from above this part of the cave dropped from Gabite's impact.

"Now, Gunk Shot Let's go!" Spike roared.

"Druddigon!" Druddigon would follow up by gathering poison in his mouth, transforming it into energy. Out of the Cave Pokemon's mouth, a ball of purple energy had been shot out with poison leaking out of it.

"Quick, Gabite! Dig!"

"Ga!" But while he was on the ground, he used it to his advantage. Gabite used his expert digging skills, quickly burrowing underground. He quickly evaded Gunk Shot as the poison had splashed into the ground. Plus, this allowed Gabite to make a counterattack. "Gabite!" He swiftly emerged out of the ground as quickly as he entered it, moving at a short range and giving Druddigon a powerful attack from underneath.

"Druddigon!" Druddigon had received an uppercut to the chin by Gabite's resurgence to the surface.

"Sweep him with Dragon Tail!"

"Dru...Druddigon!" But Druddigon could recover fast for a Pokemon of his size as always. The moment he received that heavy upwards attack from Gabite's Dig, he retaliated by using his tail, coating it in draconic energy and then swinging it.

"G-Ga!?" Gabite had been swept the second his feet touched the ground, causing him to leave the ground momentarily.

"Smash with Power-up Punch!"

"Dru...!" Druddigon would strike while Gabite was in the air after the sweep, frozen there as his eyes witnessed Druddigon bringing down an energy punch. It was sent right onto Gabite's stomach, causing him to not only hit the ground hard but also make a hole that Gabite had fallen in. The impact was that strong as Gabite's stomach ruptured a bit.

"Ah! Gabite!" Ember gasped as the impact on the ground was so strong that cracks were beginning to form. And those cracks ended up breaking this part of the cave. Right below Spike, the ground had opened up, causing him to immediately fall.

"Uh oh." Spike noticed that Druddigon may have hit Gabite too hard there. Soon, he fell with Druddigon receiving the same experience along with Axew and Ember. However, they all had one benefit that Spike didn't have. At least not yet. Flight. Druddigon recovered by flapping his wings while Ember did the same.

Gabite could do the same but he was too busy holding his head and stomach after that hard impact. Axew couldn't fly, even if he did have his ability to evolve and de-evolve at will. Plus, the ground below wasn't too deep, so the fall was short-lived. Axew couldn't fly, even if he did have his ability to evolve and de-evolve. That didn't stop Spike and Axew from hitting the ground and having a few rocks hit their heads as well.

"Ow!" Spike groaned as there were large rocks that had blocked off Spike, Druddigon, Gabite and Ember. Spike and Druddigon received a blockade that was preventing them from seeing Gabite and Ember. Spike, who was still holding his head, saw this as a chance. If anything, this destruction from Druddigon's Power-up Punch was a blessing.

"Ooh! Lucky chance! We can head to Kommo-o with all of these rocks dropping!" Spike and Axew hopped onto Druddigons' back as Ember had enough time to see what they were doing.

"Hey! Spike!" Ember roared. "We're in the middle of a battle here! Where are you going?!"

"I know! But I bet you can't catch up with us before we reach Kommo-o! Let's make it a fast one and battle along the way! If you can catch us!" He chuckled.

"Grr...Fine then. Gabite." Ember would get on Gabite's back for this one. "Dig."

"Gabite!" Gabite bellowed before then burrowing through the ground once more. They all had the same pathway in mind. The upper pathway. Druddigon had flown back to the upper part of the cave even after it crumbled, heading straight to the upper pathway.

Meanwhile, Gabite would still end up on that upper pathway despite burrowing underground. Being that he was adept with caves, this would be simple for him. But then again, the same can be said for Druddigon as they were both known as the Cave Pokemon.

"Just you wait, Kommo-o." Spike giggled, excited to reach the Scaly Pokemon when he does. If he does. "I'll have seven Dragon-Types after this and maybe I'll be able to take on Avaun when he sees how far I've come. It's gonna be great."

"Spike!" Just then, interrupting Spike's happy moment was none other than Ember. Her voice thundered out, prompting Spike to turn his head.

He noticed that there were mounds forming in the ground, rapidly keeping up with Druddigon's flight. This was done by Gabite as his head and Ember's head were poking out of the ground, along with Gabite's fin. The intimidating face of Ember had appeared, staring Spike dead in the eye, making him gulp.

"Gabite, Dragon Claw!"

"Ga!" Gabite then jumped out of the ground, diving like a fish with his claws out. Druddigon reacted to this flying upwards as he narrowly evaded Gabite. Gabite had then dove back into the ground, making a new hole as he continued his pursuit of Druddigon.

"Dragon Tail, quick!" They would both race and battle along the way with Gabite jumping out of the ground once again. This time, Druddigon would respond by using Dragon Tail and the second that Gabite jumped out for another Dragon Claw, Druddigon quickly swung his tail, clashing with Gabite's claw.

But much like how Druddigon grabbed Gabite, Gabite would do the same to his fellow Cave Pokemon by using Dragon Claw to hold Druddigon's tail. Druddigon's eyes widened while Ember put on a devious smile. Suddenly, Gabite had then thrown Druddigon along with Spike and Axew, hurling them through the air.

Gabite would soon dive back into the ground, pursuing them as this battle to reach Kommo-o was only intensifying.

"I should near the top by now." Celestia was still moving through the cave, going through an array of upper pathways. She only focused on the p and nothing more while Spike and Ember were too busy battling each other. This gave Celestia a massive opportunity as she wasn't distracted by anything.

"Celestia! There you are!" Cynthia finally caught up to Celestia.

"Cynthia!"

"You should be close to the passageway that connects to the Altar of the Sunne."

"Altar of the Sunne?" Celestia repeated as this was new information to her.

"Totem Kommo-o is the final roadblock before someone can reach the altars. If you can get near those altars, no doubt, you'll find Kommo-o, waiting there for you."

"Haka!" But someone was already there to see Celestia. Aside from Kommo-o, Hakamo-o were also present. Bursting out of the walls, the mid-evolution of the Kommo-o evolution line had appeared. Three of them. Celestia came to a halt with Passion, Arcanine and Cynthia doing the same.

"Of course...there are the Hakamo-o that can be found here too," Cynthia added. "Think of them as final roadblocks to Kommo-o."

"I've already had roadblocks through this cave. This won't be anything new and different." Celestia shrugged.

"You know...you could always just catch Hakamo-o and evolve it into Kommo-o." Cynthia nudged Celestia, giving her an alternative. "But, that way isn't what you're shooting for, right? You've already made up your mind."

"Correct," Celestia smirked. "We take the fun option back at Equestria. I know I already want to see Kommo-o and that's final. I won't let Hakamo-o get in my way either."

"Haka!" The three Hakamo-o lunged at Celestia, each of them using Dual Chop.

"Passion!" The moment the Hakamo-o got close to her, Passion had appeared via teleportation standing in front of Princess Celestia. The Embrace Pokemon stood firmly, allowing Dual Chop to hit her. She was immune to it either way as the Kommo-o ended up chopping their hands onto Gardevoir, being blocked from reaching Celestia.

"Ha?!"

"Dazzling Gleam!" Celestia exclaimed as she spread her arms out to replicate the movement of when Passion used Gardeoir, being in perfect sync with her Pokemon as this was her battling style. Replicating movements.

"Garde...!" Now was a bad time to be in front of Passion. The Psychic-Fairy-Type immediately exuded a pink aura before then expanding into a shield. "Voir!" The shield had engulfed the Hakamo-o, making them see nothing but a blinding light as the shield expanded, combusting and dispersing right afterwards.

The Hakamo-o dropped after the power of Dazzling Gleam had encompassed them, sending beautiful sparkles across the entire cave. Cynthia nodded in approval while also sensing a great wealth of skill from Celestia and Passion.

The Hakamo-o were out of the way for now as Celestia would continue towards the upper path, not slowing down for a moment.

Path before the Altar of the Sunne.

She had arrived. The final pathway. Located at the very top, there was a bright light that shined through the entranceway. That was the light of the Sun, confirming that Celestia had indeed reached the top. And standing there at the very end seemed to be more Hakamo-o. This time, they were joined by Jangmo-o too.

Celestia stopped before the evolution line, but there was one more missing. She stood there, filling the atmosphere with silence, waiting for the Scaly Pokemon to show itself.

And as to be expected, Kommo-o would appear. But it would be from above instead of the cave. Celestia sensed someone coming from above as there was a sparkle in the azure skies. That sparkle then revealed itself to be a figure that was descending rapidly.

Crashing down at high speeds, shaking the ground and causing some wind to blow the dust was none other than the Pokemon of the Hour. The reason why they were all here.

Totem Kommo-o.

"Kommo-o!"

"There you are," Celestia said upon witnessing the Scaly Pokemon. "Honestly...thought you'd be bigger. But you just look like an average-sized Kommo-o."

"Ko!" Immediately, Kommo-o was taken aback by Celestia's words, along with its pre-evolutions. Never before had anyone said this about Kommo-o, especially with its totem appearance.

"Oh, well. Listen up!" Celestia vigorously pointed at Kommo-o. "Kommo-o. I'm here to add you to my team! As the Princess of the Sun and Ruler of Equestria, I shall bring you along! But of course, that's not possible without a challenge being issued. Correct?"

"Kommo-o!" Kommo-o roared as the pre-evolutions stood in front of it, wanting to involve themselves in this battle. It wasn't uncommon for other Pokemon to join a Totem Pokemon. Immediately after accepting Celestia's challenge, Kommo-o was overflowing with aura, pumping itself up.

"You'll have to get past all of them as well. They won't let you defeat Kommo-o so easily," Cynthia said to Celestia as she was about to battle multiple Pokemon along with a powerful Totem Pokemon.

"I know. Passion and I are ready for this. And there's always Arcanine who can chime in if it gets too out of control. Are you ready, Passion?"

"Gardevoir!"

"Then, let's begin, shall we? Clear away the Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o first with Psychic!" Celestia put her hands out while also moving them in a sweeping motion.

"Voir!" Passion went first. The pre-evolutions would have to be separated if she wanted to reach Kommo-o. She put her hands out, mimicking Celestia's motions while telekinetically grabbing Hakamo-o and Jangmo-o. She then sent them flying in separate directions, dealing super-effective damage in the process.

"Jang!"

"Haka!"

"Kommo-o!" Kommo-o would move in once the others had been separated from it, going for Poison Jab as its claws were laced in poison.

"Here it comes, Passion! Dazzling Gleam!" Celestia pulled her hand back before then creating a magical orb and throwing it to the ground. That gave Passion a good idea of what she should do.

"Garde!" The moment Kommo-o swung his claws, Passion had elegantly flown past Kommo-o, evading Poison Jab. Right afterwards, she summoned a sphere of magic in her hand, getting ready to throw it at the Scaly Pokemon's back.

"Ko!" Only for Kommo-o to suddenly zoom out of the way. Passion was surprised by how swift it moved as the second Dazzling Gleam was thrown, it hit the ground instead of Kommo-o, failing. "Kommo-o!" Afterwards, Kommo-o went for Close Combat once it had evaded Passion's Dazzling Gleam.

It lunged in, going for a devastating kick with an orange trail of energy behind it. Passion had been smacked in the face by Kommo-o's face, receiving minimal damage but damage nonetheless as she slid back. Kommo-o would go for another hit after striking Passion, this time a blow to the face.

"Block it!" Celestia put her arms together in an X-Shape, prompting Passion to act fast.

"Garde!" Gardevoir also put her arms together, blocking Kommo-o's second hit as the impact had formed a crater below them.

"Now's our chance! Grab Kommo-o and send it flying with Psychic!" Celestia clasped her hands together while spinning around in a throwing motion.

"Voir!" Passion's hands were a bit tied at the moment. But she could still use Psychic and mimic what Celestia had ordered. By having her eyes glow, she managed to grab ahold of Kommo-o, spinning the Scaly Pokemon.

"K-Kommo-?!" Kommo-o gasped as its body was being hurled by a Psychic control. The super-effective blow hadn't happened yet until Passion released it, dealing invisible damage to the Dragon-Fighting-Type and sending it flying. "Ko!"

"Excellent! Let's keep it up with Dazzling Gleam!"

"Gardevoir!" Passion would follow up by using Dazzling Gleam, using the sphere of magic to shoot out multi-coloured rainbows at high speeds.

"Ko!" Kommo-o, who was highly durable thanks to being a Totem Pokemon, had recovered immediately. The moment it saw the rays, Kommo-o would retaliate by using Clanging Scales. Kommo-o folded its arms then unfolded them as it lets out a big roar, sending blue shockwaves toward the rays.

The shockwaves managed to intercept the rays as they cancelled each other out. After attacks cancelled out, Kommo-o rushed back in with Poison Jab.

"Meet it with Psychic!" Celestia's eyes flashed as she aimed her hand at Kommo-o's poison-laced claws.

"Gardevoir!" Passion focused on Kommo-o's claws, aiming to control it via the poison. However, Kommo-o had used its speed to its advantage once again, swiftly moving to the side and becoming a blur before Passion could see it. "Garde?!"

"Beside you, Passion!"

"Voir?!" Passion gasped as Kommo-o slugged her in the face with Poison Jab, receiving super-effective damage in return. The Embrace Pokemon suffered a heavy hit from that before tumbling and crashing through some rocks.

"Mo-o!" Kommo-o wouldn't stop there. It immediately went for Flash Cannon, putting its arms out and unleashing a beam of devastating light energy.

"Quick! Mystical Fire!" Celestia cupped her hands together before thrusting them out and opening her hands.

"V-Voir!" Passion stopped before she could hit another rock, levitating to recover herself. Once the beam of light energy came racing in, she retaliated by unleashing a spiral of mystical flames. The stream of magical flames and the beam of light energy had clashed, resulting in an immediate struggle.

The impact was strong as the Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o had no choice but to stay back from this immense pressure. There was a hot wind blowing now as it made Cynthia and Celestia's jackets flow from the pressure.

"Combine it with Thunderbolt, now! Plasma Bolt!" Celestia exclaimed as she was going for the usual Mystical Fire and Thunderbolt combination. AKA, Passion's own signature move, Plasma Bolt.

"G-Gardevoir!" Gardevoir managed to transfer a high surge of 100,000 volts into the magical flames, merging them to form plasma. A burst of plasma had occurred, destroying nearby rubble as the beam had transformed, expanding in size. It was immediately powerful enough to push back Kommo-o's beam.

"K-Ko?!"

"Gardevoir!" A crater formed from this struggle as Plasma Bolt started tearing through Flash Cannon. This forced Kommo-o to give it its all, or else defeat was imminent and guaranteed. But, Flash Cannon couldn't beat out Plasma Bolt, resulting in Passion winning the struggle. The impact on Kommo-o was strong, but not very effective. It was still a Dragon-Type after all.

"Mo!"

"Now, Dazzling Gleam!" Celestia then started thrusting her hands back and forth repeatedly. And Passion would do the same.

"Voir-Voir!" But with Dazzling Gleam. She then sent multiple rainbow rays by moving her hands back and forth, bombarding Kommo-o. Kommo-o gasped as the rays crashed into it at full force, forcing the Scaly Pokemon to go on the defensive.

"She's amazing..." Cynthia couldn't help but wonder at Celestia's skills. "She's improved this much in just 3 years? Many trainers can barely reach this level so quickly...It makes sense now. Celestia is a natural-born prodigy. Not just in her world, but for Pokemon as well."

"K-Kommo-o..." After being bombarded by so many Dazzling Gleams, Kommo-o felt dizzy, holding its head. Now was a good time for Celestia to unleash a Poke Ball.

"Celestia! You don't want to gain it do you?! Now's your chance!"

"Oh, right!" Celestia gasped as she was getting too into the battle to remember why she came here. Quickly, she used her magic to take out a Poke Ball from her pockets. This time it was an Ultra Ball, just for safe measure. "Go! Ultra Ball!" She then launched it with her full magical might.

"Ko?" Kommo-o looked up before being bonked in the head by the ball. It immediately shrunk the Scaly Pokemon with a red light, sending it before dropping to the ground. Now came the moment of truth. Celestia would potentially get a third Pokemon at last.

1...2...3...Gotcha! Kommo-o was caught.

A success. A successful battle with great back and forths and a great way to hone her skills. Topped off with a successful catch. Kommo-o was now Celestia's third Pokemon.

"I did it...I did it! Cynthia, I did it!" Overjoyed that she caught her third Pokemon by battling, Celestia found a great sense of excitement. This was far different to when she first caught Gardevoir and Arcanine. She was so excited that she ended up hugging Cynthia with amazing strength.

"Ough! Y-You certainly did!" Cynthia hugged her back. "I can tell this is your first time catching a Pokemon this way. The excitement is something else, isn't it?"

"Gardevoir!" Passion flew over, joining in and hugging both Celestia and Cynthia with her greater arm reach. "Garde!"

"I know, Passion! Look at us now!"

"Arcanine!" Arcanine wanted in as well as he lunged up, getting on Celestia's back.

"Okay, Arcanine! That smarts!" Celestia chuckled as it was a great feeling for everyone right now. Of course, she had to retrieve the Ultra Ball too. With a flick of her finger, she used her magic to bring it over.

They all broke up the group hug as Celestia looked at the ball for a moment. RIght afterwards, she had sent ou Kommo-o out. It was still dazed after the battle, shaking its head before realizing it had been caught.

"Kommo-o. Thank you for the fun battle." Celestia walked up to the Scaly Pokemon, holding her hand out. "Apologies if I went overboard. Battles excite me."

"Ko...Kommo-o." Kommo-o harboured no ill feelings towards Celestia. It was a Fighting-Type and it enjoyed battling strong opponents. Celestia was not only a powerful opponent but a trainer who was worthy of catching Kommo-o. The Totem Pokemon held its claw out, shaking with Celestia. Granted, it would need some healing after the battle.

"J-Jangmo-o!" Naturally, Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o were saddened that their role model would be leaving now that it had a trainer. Tears burst out of them, dropping everywhere.

"Ko." Kommo-o would sort this out. It was no longer the final roadblock. Now they would have to be that final roadblock. Or rather, one of them would be the true final roadblock. It went up to one of the Hakamo-o before touching its head. Just then, Celestia and Cynthia had witnessed Kommo-o share some of the Aura Power that it holds with Jangmo-o. Now, Hakamo-o was overflowing with Totem Power, becoming the new Totem Pokemon of this area.

"Did you know they could do that...?" Celestia asked.

"Not at all," Cynthia replied as this was her first time seeing something like this too. Soon, Hakamo-o would be just like Kommo-o. Figuratively and literally, since one day it could potentially evolve.

"Made it!" Just then, two voices were nearby, echoing this direction. Celestia and Cynthia turned around, recognizing those voices.

Spike and Ember.

"No, I made it!" Ember shouted in retaliation as they were still racing. The sounds of attacks being smashed against each other could be heard. Gabite and Druddigon were neck and neck, butting heads as neither Pokemon would lose in their natural territory.

They finally reached the upper pathway and the stopping point of this cave with bright smiles on their faces. They believed one of them would get to Kommo-o first.

But alas, when they got there, they saw that Princess Celestia had beat them to it. She was already putting her arms around Kommo-o's neck. "Gah! No way!" They both gasped as Gabite and Druddigon stopped what they were doing. Their battle had no point anymore.

"Yes, way." Celestia winked. "You're just a few seconds late, you two. But I can see and tell that you had a fun battle racing up here, right?"

"Gardevoir." Passion laughed.

"Aw...come on." Spike got off Druddigon, getting on his knees. "But I was gonna catch Kommo-o and battle Avaun..."

"I need a fourth Pokemon already..." Ember sighed. "Kommo-o would've been a massive level up, but...oh well."

"It's not all a total loss." Cynthia walked up. "You have Kommo-o's pre-evolutions here. Why don't you try and catch them instead?"

"Hmmm..." Spike and Ember looked over at Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o. They were still very much available, itching for a fight since Passion separated them. "Fine."

"As for us, we'll be on our way. I need to heal up Kommo-o. Oh and find Luna. Unless I don't get distracted. Good luck on your Dragon Training though." Celestia returned Kommo-o before happily skipping away, proud of her third Pokemon. Cynthia shrugged before following her new pastry-dessert-sweet-loving friend.

"I swear there's a reward for beating Kommo-o..." Cynthia paused for a moment before dismissing it and walking off. Oh well.

"Hah...Okay. Who wants to go first?" Spike pointed at one of them. They would spend a little more time up here. They may not have caught Kommo-o, but they can always work up to gaining a Kommo-o themselves.

As for Celestia, she was gung-ho and overjoyed to the core. Catching Kommo-o meant that she had a new friend by her side. Another powerful Pokemon was with her. Cynthia looked at Celestia, knowing that there was a stellar ordeal of power and skill within her.

Not just with magic but with Pokemon Battling too. Cynthia wasn't sure how she was able to befriend so many powerful trainers who have vast potential and skill, but she's gotten used to it seeing that she was one of them back in her younger days. And despite being the oldest here, Celestia had a lot of room to grow as a Pokemon Trainer.

And that room was vast and endless as the journey continues.
